Ace - Mara the Ninja Jester
Brady - Belven the Ten Town's Ranger
Will - Calwen the Heretical Elven Spectromancer
Me - Tock Mandolin the Half Elven Half Houron Timelord and Random Accidently (for about 30 seconds)
Grady - GM, also NPC's Renegade Thay Wizard Chick and The Four From Halrua
Random Accidently, the guy who had been spontaneously created by two wizards hanging out with each other, decided that he was going to cease to exist, but that he would provide the party with a replacement, so reaching out into the ether, he pulled Tock Mandolin out of thin air.
Random then exploded, and in a shimmer of lights, Tock was standing there instead. Tock, who had been waiting to be in a dragon school was, needless to say, quite shocked and severely annoyed. The rest of the Joker's Wild were also annoyed, both for having little bits of Random on them, but also for the stow away that had appeared out of nowhere.
After an initial very tense stand off, no blows were struck. Tock learned that the group was on a secret mission somewhere in the southern part of the continent, half a world away from where he had been. No, they wouldn't tell him where it was. No, they wouldn't visit the isle of Lantan to use the portal they had discovered there to travel more quickly. They didn't know him from Adam.
Things had gone from tense to frosty. They didn't really like Tock, and he really didn't like them; mainly due to circumstances. Tock retired below and read books he'd seen in his mind (with his perfect memory.)
Then, the young Blue Dragon that Tock and the rest of the Holy Band of the Holy Wormhole had fought showed up and attacked the ship (validating that Tock was telling the truth, though that hardly changed any minds). Tock opened fire with his Holy Shotgun of Awesoness and Calwen unleashed a rainbow blast of death and doom. The Four, four adventurer's as part of the secret mission with the Joker's Wild, were of no help whatsoever. Mara and Belven attempted to harm the dragon but were unable to penetrate its thick skin with ranged attacks.
The Dragon breathed lightning on Tock, but realizing it was getting its ass kicked, flew away before the group could kill and then sell/eat it. Tock wanted to chase it, since he was certain the dragon would talk to other Blues and provide information about the unguarded portal and endanger the gnomes, but the group had no real way of persuing the creature.
Things were tense on the ship, and then land was sighted. Tock was going to leap overboard and swim to shore when he grew curious at Mara's behavior. He spoke to her body guard, the disguised renegade wizard of Thay, who said only bad things about the group's behavior...which actually made Tock see them in a more positive light. He didn't really like the bodyguard.
He spoke to Mara and learned that the group were ambassadors of Cormyr, displaced half way across the world like he was, but also working to heal the old man of the Four who had a ...thing...on his back and could not be allowed to know what they were doing. Hence why they could not use the portal. More importantly, Tock learned that the group had lost over half of its number, including her former lover, another good friend, the incredibly brilliant and handsome Alchemist Viper Hathan, and a few others that had been randomly disintigrated in a moderately pointless attempt to burgle a dead wizard's appartment.
Tock was sympathetic to this and expressed his desire to return but moreover to fight the Mind Flayers that were invading Grynn from the underworld. He agreed to help the group.
Upon landing, the group was approached by a giant dog, that Belven befriended. Calwen got the idea to make a familiar, initially of the dog, until Mara suggested he use his Sunstone instead. Everyone contributed something, including Tock, who gave the Universal Remote he'd picked up from the Gnomes. The familiar was created in a shimmer of light and power.
Mara, noticing Tock had contributed to the group, healed him of the last of the damage from the dragon. On land, the Joker's Wild then resolved to go on towards the Temple of Lathander.
