[Inglemia] 5 Element Majors - News November 2012

The Third Air Fleet has been reduced to a third of its strength as Iuz has sent out a number of "God Bombs" which, when sent through the Mirror Tube cause tremendous damage. The Airships have had to close distance to fire at the ships that come through but then retreat when a "God Bomb" is sent. They are holding the line, but barely.

The trial of House Segglestaff has been rendered. House Segglestaff has been found guilty of consorting with the enemies of Inglemia. An Office of Special Inquisition, independent of all houses, has been set up to investigate the taint in Inglemian society by these hostile forces, as well as to root out the dire influences of House Segglestaff. Many individuals are now being tried. House lands in the cantons have been ceded temporarily to the Doge. House worlds are ceded to Ether and will soon be reauctioned. The House is elevated to Minor status, thus elevating Polyshane.

The Tidal Wave generator was activated and sent toward the City of Blueport. Thanks to a Water Recon team dispatched at the last minute, they were able to shut down the device before it did much damage. Thus the wave destroyed some ships but did not cause massive damage to the structures. The citizens of Blue Port are immensely relieved. Unfortunately, out of a panic, some of the ransom was paid directly from the Blueport treasury, some 5 million gold has arrived in the hands of the renegade prince.

People like the Pleasure Network, and have paid to have it installed privately, despite its illegality. The Invisible Consortium has done quite well for itself by selling the enchantments required and it is rumored that there are several renegade members of Sosori helping them do this.

Ohigattan was, in fact, actually rearming as were many of the houses. Local members of the civil defense forces attempted to assure the houses that they were quite well defended, thus discouraing most of the other houses from rearming but Ohiggatan was not to be deterred. They didn't strike on Sosori or Yontor, but with Segglestaff being as weak as they were, house troops assaulted many Segglestaff buildings, laying waste to many of their holdings. The fate of the members of the house are largely unknown, but Segglestaff is absolutely on the run, with only minors spared. It will be decades before the house is restored, and many are calling for the creation of a new divination house from scratch.

In light of the recent destruction of the Third Air Fleet, the Doge has called for a major increase in funding for Air. All of the houses unanimously agreed with major spending calling for the creation of 3 new air fleets. Their completion is estimated to take six months. Sosori also attempted to initiate an expansion of across the board military spending, with Ohigattan opposing except for Earth and Fire. Yontor lent its opposition for expansions of Water and Ether Services with the Red Society leveraging behind the scenes, essentially saying, "We're at war! Are you mad?!" Expansion of Water was effectively blocked. Ether didn't really have very many people advocating for it since many still regard it as a Segglestaff project but the Red Society fought for it, as did many merchant guilds who demanded the trade through the mirror tube continue.

Just when things looked most grim for the relations between Inglemia and her Cantons, a direct effort by Martel Mirtaeveous enabled good will for all involved. By personally approaching each of the houses, as well as visiting (with magical assistance) each of the 20 cantons, he assuaged egos and helped them put their differences aside. With the parties good standing with Sosori, the Doge did not like the idea of empowering the Cantons, but agreed to hear their redresses with the noble houses and Cantons working together to create a new constitutional framework with the caveats that the Dogeship would remain intact for the duration of the war (reluctantly agreed by all parties) and that the fundamental principles of Inglemia as a city of wizards and magic first was agreed. This is expected to be a major battle of wills, factions, politics and philosophies.

However, with their star on the rise, Sosori teamed up with the Yontor block to initiate the Obligations of Nobility Act, providing firm enforcement mechanisms on the nobles and the noble houses, both to 'set an example' for the Cantons (and thus reduce their bargaining power) but also the 'enhance our moral purity in light of recent Segglestaff scandals.)

Indeed, the only piece of Segglestaff's legacy remaining intact was the failure of Sosori to also pass the Obligations of the Citizenry act. Yontor and many of the other houses including former allies of Segglestaff voted to block it, believing it set a horrible precedent in light of constitutional negotiations with the Cantons.

An attempted coup de etat by forces friendly to the renegade prince in Kelp were defeated by a combined force of Kelpian military and a 2nd water Recon force.

The rumor of giants in Midgaard proved to be utterly false.

Toril has been sealed off an quarantined by Ether due to a horrific spell plague that is ravaging the lands.

Recon troops sent to examine the Beholder Presence on the moon indicate that they started to build a facility there but abandoned the project in a rush. No beholder ships have been seen in the area. A few scholars are suggesting Inglemia modify a few airships with Spell jammer helms.

Fire Command ordered the Sixth Legion to Blueport to help with rebuilding efforts. Since the disaster passed, they are staying...just in case.

Water Command has consolidated its agents in the 2nd Deep Cover unit to infiltrate Shard and disrupt their efforts to reverse engineer Self Replicating Runes.

Goblins (currently in the madphase) have been confirmed by the Third Recon branch of water to be much more aggressive and actively digging in a known number of high magic sites. What they are looking for is not known since telepathic magic is notoriously difficult on Madlanders when in their Mad phase. Meanwhile Gnomes are ending their Wander phase early (2 months) and returning to the Madlands which will potentially lead to crowding issues in the cities since the Halflings are still there.

The Red Society is trying to drum up more volunteers in the Cantons to speed up the creation of the brigades.

The Canton Council is asking for support from the Protectorate and the Empire of Kelp in their bid for more say in Inglemian politics.

The Protectorate is well disposed towards the Canton Council.

The Empire of Kelp does not like the Canton Council due to Segglestaff's previous sentiments towards them and is cool to their efforts.

A large number of Earth Mercenaries are being hired and brought in to Inglemian areas on Earth. They don't seem like nice guys.

Ether has begun to recruit off world legions to bolster their numbers.

Strange things are afoot in Melnibone. Odd magics and individuals are seen traveling the skies.

Sagala (F) - Outer Network. Slightly similar to Toril or Krynn but all humans have greatly increase magic ability but are the smallest creatures there. Most are giant in size and very hostile to small 'fae' humans.

Camelot (B) - Sosori - Just awarded. Outer Network. Primitive to non existent magic. Similiar to the Blacklands before it was modernized. Sosori is examining it.

[Grynn] The Joker's Wild - Session 1 (Tock Mandolin)

Ace - Mara the Ninja Jester

Brady - Belven the Ten Town's Ranger

Will - Calwen the Heretical Elven Spectromancer

Me - Tock Mandolin the Half Elven Half Houron Timelord and Random Accidently (for about 30 seconds)

Grady - GM, also NPC's Renegade Thay Wizard Chick and The Four From Halrua

Random Accidently, the guy who had been spontaneously created by two wizards hanging out with each other, decided that he was going to cease to exist, but that he would provide the party with a replacement, so reaching out into the ether, he pulled Tock Mandolin out of thin air.

Random then exploded, and in a shimmer of lights, Tock was standing there instead. Tock, who had been waiting to be in a dragon school was, needless to say, quite shocked and severely annoyed. The rest of the Joker's Wild were also annoyed, both for having little bits of Random on them, but also for the stow away that had appeared out of nowhere.

After an initial very tense stand off, no blows were struck. Tock learned that the group was on a secret mission somewhere in the southern part of the continent, half a world away from where he had been. No, they wouldn't tell him where it was. No, they wouldn't visit the isle of Lantan to use the portal they had discovered there to travel more quickly. They didn't know him from Adam.

Things had gone from tense to frosty. They didn't really like Tock, and he really didn't like them; mainly due to circumstances. Tock retired below and read books he'd seen in his mind (with his perfect memory.)

Then, the young Blue Dragon that Tock and the rest of the Holy Band of the Holy Wormhole had fought showed up and attacked the ship (validating that Tock was telling the truth, though that hardly changed any minds). Tock opened fire with his Holy Shotgun of Awesoness and Calwen unleashed a rainbow blast of death and doom. The Four, four adventurer's as part of the secret mission with the Joker's Wild, were of no help whatsoever. Mara and Belven attempted to harm the dragon but were unable to penetrate its thick skin with ranged attacks.

The Dragon breathed lightning on Tock, but realizing it was getting its ass kicked, flew away before the group could kill and then sell/eat it. Tock wanted to chase it, since he was certain the dragon would talk to other Blues and provide information about the unguarded portal and endanger the gnomes, but the group had no real way of persuing the creature.

Things were tense on the ship, and then land was sighted. Tock was going to leap overboard and swim to shore when he grew curious at Mara's behavior. He spoke to her body guard, the disguised renegade wizard of Thay, who said only bad things about the group's behavior...which actually made Tock see them in a more positive light. He didn't really like the bodyguard.

He spoke to Mara and learned that the group were ambassadors of Cormyr, displaced half way across the world like he was, but also working to heal the old man of the Four who had a ...thing...on his back and could not be allowed to know what they were doing. Hence why they could not use the portal. More importantly, Tock learned that the group had lost over half of its number, including her former lover, another good friend, the incredibly brilliant and handsome Alchemist Viper Hathan, and a few others that had been randomly disintigrated in a moderately pointless attempt to burgle a dead wizard's appartment.

Tock was sympathetic to this and expressed his desire to return but moreover to fight the Mind Flayers that were invading Grynn from the underworld. He agreed to help the group.

Upon landing, the group was approached by a giant dog, that Belven befriended. Calwen got the idea to make a familiar, initially of the dog, until Mara suggested he use his Sunstone instead. Everyone contributed something, including Tock, who gave the Universal Remote he'd picked up from the Gnomes. The familiar was created in a shimmer of light and power.

Mara, noticing Tock had contributed to the group, healed him of the last of the damage from the dragon. On land, the Joker's Wild then resolved to go on towards the Temple of Lathander.

[Inglemia] Five Element Majors Session #4

Cullen - Enchante

Brady - Auranos

Will - Bjorn Ogreshaft

Skreg - Martel Mirtaeveous

Ace - Mr. Green

The group had learned through Bjorn Ogreshaft's investigations that the undead plaging Charport had in fact been secret constructs of Ravenloft, later tampered with by another diety and later still taken over by a local necromancer and used to inflitrate. They were largely like living creatures but still were vulnerable to some kinds of holy magic and most magics that affected the living. Martel had done some investigation of the clear society and discovered that there were three living members but they had laid quiet for some time because they were cursed due to their interactions with a demonic lawfirm from Earth.

The group rode out toward Blackstone, the ancestral home of the necromancer, traveling either by tattoo (Mr. Green) or Zanzibar. They had to bypass a black cloud that surrounded the area that wanted to push them into the negative material plane and nearly did so. Upon entering, they killed four giantic zombie ogres and three gigantic wyverns. They did the same thing to fourteen 'Pod People' undead that possessed the shells of fourteen stone giant elders. The battle was fierce but the group succeeded by might (Green and Ogreshaft) and Cunning (Echante who summoned other members using the tattoos) and Zanzibar the Flying Carpet (Auranos and Martel).

Using Echante's knowledge of architecture, they found a secret door into black stone. They bypassed a few traps and utterly ignored the table full of food, some of which had poison. Upon investigating one white corridor with a mirror at the end, they decided to investigate the other rooms. They found a library (nobbed many of the tomes), a room full of glass statues, one of whom they revived (A woman trying to kill the local necromancer), and then they went to the Lich's room.

The Lich was trying to open a permanent portal to Ravenloft. They stopped him but only barely, but did not find his psychaltry but did loot his corpse. Mr. Green ended up using a Sphere of Anhiliation to destroy the portal before it could open. Enchante was driven insane with a symbol of insanity and now has megalomania. Auranos nearly died but managed to just BARELY live thanks to the added health from the fifth tattoo.

And there was much rejoicing as the group looted the lich's corpse.
