LARP: VILE at DragonCon 2010

My Character: Dr. Spork, radical experimenter in telekinetic fields that make him INVULNERABLE!

Background: A group of wannabes are trying to get into the world's paramount super villain org, VILE. Only one will be accepted.

Game: This game was put on by the people who run the Forest of Doors LARP, as a one shot and it ROCKED. There wasn't really much in terms of story, and the role play was...very light but thematically interesting. Basically, everyone started with a power, and had to perform capers to gain infamy points.

Every caper required a certain number of powers. So by definition you have to get people to team up with you. You can also make gadgets with tech points. You get tech points by doing things like bringing the GM's drinks, or, most fun of all, rushing out into the con and getting pictures of things like villians giving a thumbs up or down, or 'pranking' good guys. It was extremely fun though it devolved into a bit of really a relaxed party in the last hour, mainly because the GM's were all smashed.

Immortal invisible war - Ripperology Calling

My character: Tom Sawyer

Background: A group of renegade alien servants toed themselves to humanity through the power of myth.

Game: Everyone recieved invitations to go from the present to one hundred years in the past. The group started in a symposium escorting an important human. Tom Sawyer had befriended Mark Twain years before and taken the name of the character as a result. He had a special rifle and the mythological aspect of frog. Someone reported that a young Alistair Crowley had stolen Nietze's briefcase. The grou went after him. They caught the boy but a drone, servant of their former alien masters was wearing a human flesh suit and killing people. The group followed the drone and then ended up in a titanic battle with other immortals including a shape shifting Charles Darwin, Perun, and Captain Nemo. Tom Sawyer used a shape shifting Billy the kid, along with other members of the grou who used fire, a drawn dragon, and Van Helsing's claws to kill the out of control Darwin. The group then returned to the present. Their host then said, "ah! So that is how it happened."

The Seven (LARP Gencon 2010)

My Character: Preston Quick

Background: Vincenti set up a group of seven elite billionaires in 1945 when he discovered suspended animation. To avoid aging, this group went in and lived only seven days a year; from Dec 25 to Jan 1. For 76 years things went great until Aram, one of the seven, was killed. Most said it was an accident. Quick new better.

Preston had joined when someone else left the Seven 9 years before. Preston was suave, sophisticated and a mechanical genius. He had a secret though. His Major Domo, Charles, was in fact his twin brother. Charles had Asbergers and was a financial wizard but hated people. The two had been switching back and forth each year inside of the chamber because Preston didn't want to leave his brother behind.

Game: Preston talked with Lua, the member of the seven he most trusted, confiding he thought it was a murder. She agreed and the two worked to correct things. A man named Xander burst into the party claiming to have snuck in. Preston thought this man had potential and hired him on the spot.

The Seven met to discuss candidates. During the meeting, Preston had an odd urge to clean his hands. Suspicious, he used his gadgets to scan himself and sure enough; his RRID chip, which many people had which allowed them to telepathically link to devices, had been activated against his will. He immediately suspected the Chases, who were one of the candidates to be one of the seven. His suspicions were confirmed when the Chases were trying to get him kicked out of the Seven.

Preston did some more investigation but made the swap with Charles in middle of the night. Things got complicated with Charles pretending to be Preston, but while people thought it was a bit odd, they asked no questions. Charles, as Preston, continued to 'talk' to people but gave up the murder investigation because it didn't concern him. He helped when he was asked.

Xander revealed that he had broken into the vault and had proof it had been tampered with. Charles/Preston thanked him. Vincinti asked him about a historian who had been sent to observe the Seven. Charles/Preston spoke to her. She was there.

The Seven met again with no tangible results though they narrowed it down to a few candidates. Xander walked in at random without invitation, and Charles/Preston said, "Are you insane?" This pissed Xander off.

At first it looked like the Chases had murdered Arav, but it turned out to be Vincinti. One of the other Seven had investigated and confided to Lua and Charles/Preston that Vincinti was 400 years old. Preston (the real one) told Charles over the phone to tell the others that Vincinti was collecting them! The evening ended uneventfully but Preston decided to leave the Seven for good. They were much too dangerous. Charles was happy since he had never been one to like the freezing or deception anyway.

The King of Feldra (LARP Gencon 2010)

My Character: Prince Reginald Bluestorm

Background: Reg had learned from his calculations that the neighboring kingdom of Feldra was going to be vulnerable by the end of the day. Feldran magic was all tied to a single sword owned by the king, and since Feldra had not chosen a sword before (in the Dragon of Feldra) it would soon vanish. If Feldra was vulnerable, Reg's older brother Mortimer was sure to kill the king of Rydia (Reg's kingdom) and assume the throne in order to invade Feldra because of his hatred of it.

Game: Reg desperately raced on horseback to inform the Feldrans of his brother's intent, informing them that if they did not have a new king by sundown, their kingdom would be invaded. He immediately talked to Morgymr, the wizard of the kingdom, offering to be his apprentice. This was to help restore the balance of Light and Dark to the kingdom. The Regent, Sir William, had assembled many nobles to choose a king. Some went out to cure the plague that was ravaging the land for a time. Others went out and sought information on the Dragon. Morgymr urged aid against a creature that was in his tower called a Shadow Wyvern. Reg and several others skillfully killed it. All kinds of politics were going on in the background, but it came to a head when, in order to prove that both their kingdoms were doomed if Feldra did not have a king, Reg swore an oath of loyalty to Feldra, convincing Sir Williams of his intent and the urgency of Feldra receiving a king.

There were five candidates. Using a clever interpretation of Feldran magic, Reg got all five candidates to take an oath to tell only the truth. One candidate was revealed to be interested only in himself. The second was shown to be less than qualified. Through a series of votes of the council (on which Reg now served due to his oath) Sir William was chosen as king, and both kingdoms were saved. The Dragon was put back to sleep and there was an excellent chance of the Plague being cured as well.

Dresden Campaign - Intro Story

Cast
GM: Dennis
Lint: My character
Honey: Scholar with an RV
Brian: Emissary of Fenris
Keith: Reformed Cat Burgler

Lint received a message from God via a squirrel that bad things were going to happen to all of the ice cream in Atlanta. Lint interpreted this to mean that people were going to attempt to bind all of the tech spirits in the area since he had a tech spirit friend named Molotov. Honey's character was able to discern the same thing by reading an obscure prophesy. The group met together, only to have the youngest member of the Fae winter court show up. The group agreed to investigate. Lady Winter put a powerful ward on the RV. Lint agreed to make sure the spirits didn't bound.

They learned that there was a routine gateway in the town of Between, half way between Atlanta (The City to Busy to Hate) and Athens (The City To Busy To Win). There were warnings of an uncontrolled rift. The group cautiously approached and entered a bakery. They were given a cake with latitude and longitude coordinates to a house. Upon investigating the house, a squirrel warned Lint not to approach. Lint did but Brian's character went ahead and let them know they were investigating. The wolf had seen them and was offended that Lint wouldn't say hello. He spoke well of Brian's character.

The group came back later and it turned out that a Djinn was the guardian of the gate and there was a member of the white council there, potentially under cover trying to uncover the black council or maybe working for the black council. They were 'scared off' and postponed the thing until the next year. Lady winter was largely pleased with the group.

Blood of the Earth - Finale Synopsis - Thumb nail

More to come later if my players send me the material I desired.

The group met and received an invitation from Dunklezahn. They did so and found out that there were three sites of investigation. They had time to investigate two. So they called in all of their resources, favors and contacts and sent an assortment of shadowrun teams to the first site in the Himalayas whilst they went to the second in the mountains of Norther Scotland.

They had to sneak in past several cyber zombie trolls but successfully managed to do so, only to find out that they had chosen the wrong place. The ritual to end the world was in the Himalayas, whereas the ritual in Scotland was merely to end the invisibility cloak that the Dagger of Arachne provided them. They fought the group, killing them all.

Upon emerging, the group learned they the teams they had sent were almost succesful but not quite. They contacted the various factions and arranged for more teams to be sent. This time while they returned to the Temple of Light where the Shedim had set up an ambush.

Along with a team from Hestaby, their own corporation and the Draco Foundation, they assaulted the area. This time they worked their way through the maze the Shedim had constructed and once inside of the temple itself explored all of the other rooms gaining power therefrom. There was a titanic battle in the final room with 10 powerful cyber trolls, several summoned spirits, a diseased Lofwyr and the Master Shedim. They barely managed to succeed but overcome the odds and defeated the Shedim.

The powerful spell of the Dagger was unleashed, and the 24000 year cycle was broken, banishing the Shedim from Shadowrun Earth forever (or at least several hundred thousand years.) The Dragon faction won, followed by the elves, followed by the Templars.

The players were profusely thanked.

CCP Gaming

(I want to record this for my records but I keep delaying and delaying and it keeps piling up so I'm doing 6 sessions worth of summary here which is not as flavorable as it should be.)

Session #1 - GM - Russel. My character - Fugabou, a Dwarven Druid/Shaman. Game: 4th Edition D&D. I find I like it. Neat. Basic scenario: We've all been kidnapped by racist skinhead goblin supremacists. We beat the crap out of a few goblins and spend most of the session running away. Very much a man vs nature. The River we randomly tried to cross ended up being the biggest challenge of the night. Awesome session.

Session #2 - GM - Russel. Same character. More characters. We continue to try and escape. We run from drums until a trick of fog reveals that it was a ruse. A massive fight in a box canyon which turns out to be the entrance to the Goblin city. We manage to get away.

Session #3 - GM - ME. Alternate reality with the same group but my character wasn't there and Russel was. They come across a kobold and human fighting. Got the story. Very gray. Ended up going to the Kobold village to find out what was going on. Had to dodge a forest fire. Managed to help save the Kobold village and make friends with the Kobolds. Went to human city to investigate humans. Humans were taking Kobold's slaves as retaliation. Group decides to smack the Kobolds. Bar fight of Doom and a song marking the party as they run away (wisely).

Session #4 - GM - Me. Group sneaks in to fight the Humans and destroy their weapon. They recruit Kobolds to help fight the humans as a distraction. They sneak in. Manage to find the machine and make short work of the defenses in a massive fight but accidently destroy the world by messing with the machine right before the self destruct goes off. Jeff decides that the campaign (in Eberron) that it all happened but only destroyed the city instead of the whole world.

Session #5 - GM - Andy. My Character, is a Goliath Rune Priest. Find some people being kidnapped by drow. Much ass is kicked. Two drow get away.

Session #6 - Ditto. Investigate the keep near the Chaos Scar. Recruited by the local paladin lord to find out what is going on. Much role playing. No combat.

Blood of the Earth - Session Synopsis 8

Blood of the Earth – Session 8 Synopsis (May 2073)
(via Brooks, via Shadow)
The group started out traveling to Denver again, because the Dagger and the Dragon Book both pointed to a significant event in Denver. Steel, having learned from the last visit, projected ahead to let Ghostwalker know we were coming. The group met with Ghostwalker (holy crap that dragon is HUGE) in his own lair to find out who the new Lorekeeper was. The group learned the hard way that all magic ceases to function in Ghostwalker’s lair, including forcing Shadow to his tiger form. Shadow was provided with an amulet that would allow him to change shape back to human form. During discussions, Ghostwalker informed the team that Hestaby was named the new Lorekeeper and even “offered” to take the Dragon Book to Hestaby. The team decided that, in order to meet the agreement made concerning return of the Book, that they would return it to Hestaby in person.

The team then travelled Portland in order to meet with Hestaby. After setting up a meeting time and place, the team travelled to the border of Hestaby’s territory on Mount Shasta. There, the Memory Gem (Book of Dragon Lore) was returned to Hestaby, who graciously allowed them to leave without incident.

The next point of greatest possibility was determined to be an island off the coast of Greece, as this was where the Book of Light directed. The team was able to do some research on the island and found that the island apparently turned into a huge magic surge area sometime after the awakening. Many teams were sent in to study the effects over the next several years. Then, about 50 years ago, all teams sent in to study the island disappeared. Now, any team sent to the islands fails to return.

The team landed their jet about a mile from the island and used a small inflatable boat to travel the rest of the way to the island. They circled the island after Shadow noticed that there was a path leading up to a deserted city coming from the other side. When the team made it to the other side of the island, Shadow stepped onto the path, causing it to turn red. This, of course, caused the team some trepidation, which resulted in them traveling to the Ruins via the woods, instead of the path. Upon arrival, Shadow noted a ward circling the ruins, which Rain was able to study then dispel. Once they crossed the former barrier, a red glow surrounded the party. Unable to do anything about the glow, the team proceeded into the ruins, where they discovered two things. 1- Once inside the actual ruins, the glow ceased and 2- there were several inscriptions on the ruins themselves. Rain and Steel were able to translate as “Death to all who enter except the bearers.” Not to be deterred, the team still continued into the ruins.

The team camped out in the ruins until the anticipated D-Day. As midnight on D-Day, the temple apparently transported them approximately 22,000 years back into the past, to a point prior to the creation of the Dagger. The temple at this time was intact and the village was actually populated. Rain wanted to insert the Dagger into the altar that appeared, but the team convinced her that they should investigate the village first. Upon travelling back across the barrier circling the ruins, Shadow noticed that each of the team was now a manifested spirit. They decided to continue traveling to the village, which appeared to be divided into 7 factions. One section was only a single building, and apparently contained a bound and contained Shedim.

The team attempted to sneak into the village, but were seen (even in the astral plane) by one of the guards. They were able to convince the guard to let them pass, and travelled to the hut of an elderly elf. After some discussion, they were able to determine that they were actually astral echos of Arachne (the Dagger), at least as they existed in that time period. The team also determined that Arachne was actually a divination spell, apparently the most power divination spell ever created or cast. The team also discussed the current temple on the hill with the elderly elf, and he seemed surprised that there was an altar in the temple. The elf also indicated that not everyone should know about Arachne or the fact that they had travelled back in time (or actually been projected back in time as an astral echo). The team figured this was simply a way for the elf to secure some sort of advantage for the Elven faction. During the discussions, the team also found out that the Fey were called Islani at this time in history.

Next thing they knew, the team was back in the present, with no knowledge of what happened when they went back in time. All that Shadow remembered was that someone (something) scanned his entire memory and then an incredible sense of dread, then nothing. Apparently, not everyone was affected in this way, and the team was able to piece some things together about the trip back through time.

They waited around in the ruins for a few more minutes trying to decide what to do next (the team was split on how to proceed), when they were transported back in time again, but not to the exact same time as the previous trip. This time, when examining the village, the team noted that the Fey faction portion of the village appeared to be much smaller. Obviously a result of what we told the elderly elf during our first visit. The team decided to travel back to the village to investigate, and this time the village guard actually welcomed them to the village instead of blocking the path as the guard did on their previous visit. The decision was to travel to the Dragon faction, but the team was attacked by tendrils of magic and pulled into a magical circle in the Fey faction. Completely overcome by magically induced pain for several minutes, they were then questioned by the Fey mage regarding what was told to the elderly elf on their first visit. How the Fey knew of the first visit is unknown at this time. The Fey mage appeared to be more of an amorphous blob than an actual form, but was somewhat bipedal. After some minutes Rain and Steel answered the mage’s questions. At that point, the team was again shifted back to the “Temple” and forward in time again to the current time, while Shadow had lost all knowledge of any previous visits or anything that had occurred during his time in the temple. Rain, however, seemed to have been able to resist the mind-wipe, and was able to provide the information on the previous trips through time.

The team decided to take one more trip back in time. During this trip, Shadow gained complete amnesia, not remembering anything about what the team was doing and why they were here. Something also happened to Raven, although no one is sure exactly what, other than she appears to have different memories. Because of this, Rain and Steel decided to go to the village alone to speak to the Dragon faction. Once again, they were able to enter the village without incident and made their way to the Dragon lodge. Once inside, something happened that caused the two of them to lose grip on their sanity and they attacked one of the non-dragons in the lodge, killing him. This, of course, upset the dragons who entered, one of them being Dunklezahn. Rain and Steel talked with Dunklezahn for a bit, informing him of some future events, including that Lofwyr would eventually become the Lorekeeper. Found that Dunklezahn did not have a very high opinion of Lofwyr. Steel also gave Dunklezahn a hint that he might be the target of an assassination (attempt?) after he is elected president of the UCAS. The team was then shifted back to the present, and it was decided that any future travels to the past represented entirely too many unknown dangers, given that we don’t know the actual results of these visits as yet. Upon return, the memories of all 3 trips were restored, and it appears that Raven was able to recover as well.

Blood of the Earth - News May 2073

(Note: The group has experienced an impending....something feeling. As if the world was holding its breath for something.")

May 2073 (Late)

The Azzies have consolidated their hold on that part of California Free State that they have taken (Paradiso Dante). They are trying to quickly negotiate with the Yucatan to give them what they want on the guarantee to leave them alone, in return for Yucatan’s assistance in negotiating a long term settlement with Amazonia to the south. According to some sources Azlan offered a hands-off-policy as well Amazonia should they decide to take over the Caribbean League to return the islands to more eco-friendly conditions. This frees up both their southern fronts.

UCAS continued in talks for a merging of CAS and UCAS for the benefit of both. It was not be a full-state-to-state unification, but one that recognizes the political and semi-autonomous nature of the former UCAS and CAS states. The final name can be some combination of the names, or something new, like North America Union. This would be a phased process taking some time, but their military and police functions could merge faster. They remained vigilant against Azlan. They continued to use large spirits in anti-Azlan operations most often in a semi-covert manner; not just against air and sea resources, but also for surveillance of inner areas. They covertly investigated potential wasp spirit hive near Santa Fe and hired shadowteams to remove it.

Ares continued to work on anti-spirit, especially anti-bug spirit munitions and magics, and to test them in as many environments as possible. They continued their lobbying of the UCAS/CAS merger. They are becoming more popular in Seattle.

Terrorist incidents have occurred all over the world as various non human rights organizations are extremely upset that they have been unrecognized. Life support in the Corporate court station was down for a whole day as people there began to panick. Many reported visions and terrible dreams.

(*)There also appear to be numerous incidents in the pacific islands, with a large number of bombs going off in Hawaii. Rumor has it that a group of non meta humans are planning on taking over the kingdom.

5th Ritual: With the cooperation of 3 greater wyrms, the holder of the dagger and the book, an area of up to 20 miles can be shifted to a particular type of magic, generally draconic but others could be possible, and all toxic or background counts removed.

Dagger of Arachne

*The dagger is tied to a powerful Ally Spirit (which you already knew). You can make a spirit pact with it. (Which you didn't.)
*The dagger can be bound to an infinite number of mages, however the effects only apply to anyone within a fifty foot radius of the wielder.
*The dagger is beyond doubt Atlantean in origin. It is difficult to determine but you believe it to be essentially indestructible. Furthermore, you learn that there is a distinct astrological tie of some kind to the cloaking effect, though what that is not yet discernible. It does seem to be a 24 hour window on the Second Saturday of every month.

The Atlantean Foundation – The two factions are the elites and the baselines. The question is what means are acceptable to achieve the desired future. The baseline are quite strong but the elites have a subtle but important infleunce. Their future will result in beneficial relations between all metahumans and sapients in general. The primary question is whether this shall be through empowering the masses or rule by a benevolent few.
The Illumanti – Very similar on the surface to the Atlantean foundation however they believe that core humanity should be dominant. Three factions; the Templars who believe that humanity should be dominant but only barely. The Masons who believe that humans should rule but that there is a place for non humans as well. The Scourge, who believe that non meta humans should be purged. They are largely hidden amongst the other two factions. Their future would be dominated by humans and a balance between magic and tech. They use strong governments and corporate institutions as a primary tool.
The Techs – Two factions – Dark Technomancers and AI’s. Tech at the expense of magic. Transhumanists and the like. Their future would essentially be Eclipse Phase without the magic.
The Fey – Two factions – Ambivalent Fey (who want to keep humans around as play things) and Hostile Spirits (who want to rid the world of non pure magic beings.) Their future is a world of strong magic, with little tech.
The Shedim. Who want to destroy all life. They have no factions.
Translating the cave wall you learn many things (not all of which I am going to put here) but you also learn that ONE of these factions WILL prevail. The “dagger” faction can be a faction but by the very nature of the dagger, one of the conspiracies will succeed. It just depends on which faction.

I will send the Dragon Information and the Cave Translations in a separate post later this week.

Blood of the Earth - Session 7 Summary

(Via Dennis Via Penumbra)

Concerned about too much attention upon his family, Steel brought the group back to the Seattle Area to investigate. Rain really didn't want to return to Seattle so soon, and the increased Lone Star presence was one of her reasons, but she went. While there was enhanced electronic watching, a trip to the home of the family in astral showed that there was magical surveillance as well. Rain traveled with an aura of a roach free spirit and trailed by her other spirits was not so stealthily and set off a large water spirit in flight. A spirit of man was sent to follow it to destination but it was a not so smart follower and gave not entirely correct information (Likely the spirit went through a building and did not stop). That building was the place where the parent worked, and this was communicated to Steel, who communicated it to the corp. Inquiries to contacts about interest only sparked more interest, and this steamrollered to quite a mess. Many odd, expensive contracts appeared, but they seemed to be traps and the group left Seattle in a hurry for a place to lie low until the dagger sparked. There was no Light location this month, so they must look at the dagger. It was decided being in the air was best, and Steel picked Denver as a central location for North America.

Also, while the Denver Hilton was a good couple night stay, upon leaving Denver the group was called back by Ghostwalker. having a dragon dissolve one's plane at altitude would be bad, so they turned around and met Ghostwalker in Denver (who was pissed that the metahumans did not check in upon arrival to Denver; last time Steel gets to choose vacation location). Ghostwalker made an offer that could not be refused and a mission to get the Stone fo Memory for a month and return it to the lorekeeper. He provided a long treatise on the rules of the dagger and books, and provided an itinerary for Lothwyr. One got a public mark of favor, two got 2million nuyen, one got a private favor with a mystic thorn, and one got a semi-public The coronation too tough, the Orbital court to Secure, the group decided to travel to the Middle East where the Saedur Krupp laucn facility was located and stowaway on Lothwyr's vessel. Penumbra, not as skilled as the others was left to guard the plane. mages were hired to for stealth and camouflage spells, and all four snuck on the rocket in the scape pods. After acceleration reduced Steel and Rain left the scape pods to find a drugged Lothwyr. Checking the rules, he did not have to be awake; so the phrases were made, the Memory stone revealed it self and Rian and Steel took it. Stell then caused the escape pods to trigger, covering his tracks, and making it look accidental. The other pod landed in very public Italian harbor, and the two barely made it away; Steel and Rian's pod, with the help of air spirits landed in isolated North America. Let us say the Lothwyr is pissed.

News - May 2073 (Early)

The Zigguaraut in Iraq is Gone. Inhabitants are reporting that the background count has been greatly reduced.
Ares reports that the anti Bug Spirit ammo is highly successful. Tests in the Chicago containment zone show remarkable success. In fact, there are some who believe the containment zone may be able to be removed.
Aztechnology has been at a stand still in their efforts in California. The guerilla campaign is successful but has not broken the status quo. The Azzies have consolidated their hold on that part of California Free State that they have taken (Paradiso Dante). They have ceased their overt disruption in the land between Paradiso Dante and Azlan territory.
A number of assasinations have taken place in the NAN. This has had the temporary effect of disrupting them but has also galvinized the NAN opposition. Many are blaming Saeder Krupp. Meanwhile, Yucatan decides now is the time to strike at their long time nemesis. With Aztlan fighting on multiple fronts, the Yucatan shamans call upon their allies to begin pressing the border between the Yucatan and Aztlan. Their hope is that they can quickly crush Aztlan resistance and force them to negotiate a binding treaty to never attempt to take the Yucatan again.
Negotiations between various factions in Tir Taingaire have been successful but are still on going. Meanwhile, the royal heir to Tir Na Og has arrived safely in Tir Taingaire.
Arthur has conducted a successful coup de etat in England. Details are sketchy but public moralle is high.
With the ring of light around Toxic Monster Island, it seems that the giant toxic spirits it unleashed have been slowly dying off and the combined militaries of West Asia have been able to destroy them though not at some cost.
Tensions between Amazonia and Atzlan remain high.
The UCAS announces that it has had its most prosperous economic quarter ever and is doing quite well. The government has a surplus for the first time in several decades. There is a great deal of argument about what to do with it. UCAS will continue in talks for a merging of CAS and UCAS for the benefit of both. It may not be a full-state-to-state unification, but one that recognizes the political and semi-autonomous nature of the former UCAS and CAS states.
Saeder Krupp has suffered an extremely emberrasing defeat. It is believed that a group of shadow runners (potentially the same shadowrunners who destroyed the Zig. In Iraq) took something valuable from Lofwyr in the corporate court and it has made the Corp Court look bad. He has been officially censured by the court. The violations were pointed out by Aztechnology, which has gained considerable influence among the AAA’s as a result.
Lofwyr is extremely annoyed by this and has begun a purge of many of his upper management looking for moles. Insiders think he has found some. This is primarly due to the fact that said insiders where turned into Dragon Snack food shortly after revealing this information. There are rumors that there were shadowrunners involved and that Lofwyr has spared NO expense in tracking them down.
There are other rumors that he has failed utterly miserably at all attempts to do so such that many believe there is a powerful and hithertonow unknown magic involved. This lends credence to the theory that it is the same group involved in Iraq and two altercations in Seatle.
*Because of the recent refusal by the Corp Court and UN to recognize non metahuman sapient rights, numerous terrorist groups are causing problems around the world; particularly in the Middle East, Pacific Islands and North America.

Rumors
Azlan has made an offer of permanent peace with Amazonia and a draw down of forces along the border. It is said that Azlan is preparing for battle along its northern border and does not want problems to the South.
It is said that the Pueblo Corporate Council have discovered a Wasp Hive not far from Santa Fe. It is said that the UCAS wants to remove it ASAP but the NAN has told the UCAS in no uncertain terms that their military forces in such a manner would lead to a very hot war.
The rest of the state of Florida has threatened to succeed from CAS and join the Caribean League if the UCAS and the CAS uniite.
Wuxing has developed a new hybrid corn that yeilds up to twice as much food as that of the best Aztech has to offer.
There is going to be another gathering of the Great Dragons in Venice.
The earth's magnetic field is intesifying and the poles have somehow reversed playing havoc with compasses worldwide.
SoƱador has offered Hestaby a considerable reward to help him end the fighting in Tir Taingaire.
The Elves of Tir Na Og have offered Ice Wing rich treasures in exchange for helping end the fighting in Tir Taingaire. He is considering the offer.
Hestaby has recently found a powerful treasure of her own and has no need of bribery.
Sonador has realized that his territory is vulnerable without him and has decided to return.
A great dragon council has been called in Denver for April of 2073.
A great dragon council has been called in Atlantis in April of 2073.

Blood of the Earth - Session 6 Synopsis

(Written by Dennis)

Rain, Shadow and Steel were in a conference room at the Chrysanthemum Corp Atlanta office discussing Mustang’s apparent departure from the general group. He has decided that the situation was too hot for him, and for the most part he felt like a fifth wheel on many runs. He had built a new runner rep called Thunder and while he might do some runs under that, he had a lot of money and he was not as interested in being on the outside, of something he was on the inside of. Rain and he would have connection, and if the group needed a rigger or his help, they only need call. Deciding what to do next was a conversation Rain did not participate in; the Dagger was showing her that someone linked to the dagger was nearby, and then two different people, people that had not been known of before.

Then a call came into the conference room, someone at the reception desk had used sufficient keywords to alert them to her presence upon meeting her, this elven woman, who called herself initially as Penumbra, she said that the Corporation was under Technomancer attack. Steel asked regarding trust, but Rain let the others know that this was someone tied to the dagger. As the others went off to do the computer thing, Penumbra called Rain Misty, and Rain called the woman, Amara, and two sisters who had thought each other dead were reunited.

Steel, Shadow and the Corporation resources thwarted the attack, and traced a location to find the attackers. After a brief struggle the all but one of the technomancers was dead. That last, which seemed to not be taking part in the actual attack but seemed to be local area security, was spared. Rain indicated that this person, this technomancer, was also tied to the dagger. After much give and take, and discussion about what they were doing, eventually the two new members of the team were told of the stakes and the purposes. Penumbra indicated that she had been on a lot of tough runs recently, and taking a secondary role was fine with her. She was happy to find Misty (Elizabeth). The group learned that Rain had been taken by Human-First radicals along with other young meta-children after killing their parents during the evacuation of Chicago. The Human-first people tried to raise meta-humans to be servants of humans in the hope that they would retain that ‘respect’ in adulthood. However something went wrong, and five years later they were using the children to train their children to hunt and kill metahumans. Rain’s totem rescued her and taught her how to live in the woods at age 9. It explains a lot of her craziness and why she is so sickly. Penumbra, Rain’s older sister (amara as Rain called her) was successfully evacuated to London, but when her cousin escort manifested insect possession, she was indirectly blamed for all the destruction and went into hiding in Ireland.

There was at least a week before the Dagger mission was required, so because there were new team members, and there was time, the group took on a mission in Pakistan to take some jade orichicum from a mining gathering place. The group took their new jet and cruised in good comfort. Silver and Penumbra stayed with the plane, while the others met their contact. The gig paid very well, but it was an assault on an Ares protected site. The contact had another contact that could provide more information, but he was located in the Ares area of Islamabad. Rain took it on herself to go and get the information. She used an Ares Europe fake ID to enter the Ares area as someone who was considering a transfer. She met up with the Drone technician, seduced him, and paid him 6000 ny for the information. And then she got out successfully. The group had more detailed plans of the facility and information about people and drones.

The plan needed Silver, so Penumbra stayed with the jet. A rigger brought a stealth jet within 2 miles of the facility and provided a wreck of a truck and trailer. Rain left her enough funds to hire a pilot if things went south in a hurry. Shadow, WC, and Steel would, with Rain’s Camouflage and Stealth spells, sneak into the facility, plant explosives and wreak internal havoc. When the explosives went off, Silver was to bring the truck off, and Rain could cancel the stealth spells. And later she and Silver could take part in the fight. The plan went off without much of a hitch; it turned out no one really knew anything about demolitions in the group (Mustang was that guy). Arriving to the site, Rain summoned previously bound spirits or summoned spirits to deal with people in the compound on arrival. The group loaded the mineral ore to the truck with the help of a summoned Force 7 earth spirit, and got away in 6 minutes (well ahead of the 20min window of minimum response time) Indeed the plane left the area within that window. It was determined that only 3000 lbs of the jade orichicum had to be turned over to the Johnson, so the Corp would look at that. They also got a lot of cyberware, sustaining foci, and the like as loot.

Set for cash, it was decided to go to the Ziggurat of Iraq; oddly enough the Shedim arrival point for last month; their point was where we were last month. Arrival in the area a couple days ahead of the dagger. A car rental was not hard and a scouting of the Ziggurat showed great danger. There were flying things like skeletal dragons a couple miles out from the place. The group decided to look closer. Rain called upon a Force 7 spirit of Man to conceal the car and occupants, and the group approached the structure these groups of skeletal flyers did not approach. The group came to the Ziggurat. Through observation it was determined that the top was an entrance guarded by 4 troll warriors; black light shot through that hole. There was a mid level entrance up the side, and a block entrance at the bottom. Through much effort the bottom was opened. And silly people that the group was entered the ziggurat from the bottom. The dragon things were much more interested in the vehicle, so Rain absolved the Spirit of Man’s services to summon and air spirit to also conceal the vehicle. Inside the ziggurat was a -5 background count and no spirit of Rain’s would come. Upon entering the group went left, quickly triggering a trap that blocked them in. Use of swords and Rain’s shatter spell, broke a way past but the passage way was dead-end. Upon returning back the way they came, there was a massive of zombie orcs with glaives waiting at the way out. Shadow and Steel charged them, WC shot them, and Rain tried a Slaughter Spirit on them on the off chance they were spirit-based instead of the more likely Shedim Based. As it turned out there were spirit based, so without too much serious injury they were dispatched. Shadow was a cutting machine through them, as was Steel. Crossing back to go right in the ziggurat, Steel decided to sneak a look outside. There, a skeletal dragon was crushing the last life out of the vehicle. It spotted Steel, and chased him back inside. Shadow and Rain had already detected more things coming from ahead, so WC and Steel fought the wyvern, while the next horde of orcs was solely in fought by Shadow and Rain. Shadow charged the orcs so they could not easily move around to attack Rain directly. Each separate battle ceased at about the same time. First Aid was done on all, and it was decided to press on to the right.

[Notes continued by the GM]

The group carefully sent Shadow forward by Stealth to examine the center, and found a forty by forty foot hole that sloped downward and outward on to 25 silver spikes upon which were impaled 25 humans/metahumans who by rights should have died. They tried to figure out what to do next. They also noticed a hidden door at the base of the pyramid.

Blood of the Earth - News March 2073

Stuff happening in the world - March 2073

People have pretty much resigned themselves to the fact that the psyber pyschosis effect is here to stay. Many companys are already applying some of the same cyber technqiues that were learned to make Cyberzombies toward those who are supremely heavily cybered. Some think it might be a chance in the astral plane.
A giant ziguarat has appeared in the desert in Iraq. It is exuding a powerful background count that seems to affect the area around it for a hundred miles. Those gazing at it on the astral plane describe it as an inky oily blackness.
Ares has invented a powerful anti bug ammo that does tremendous damage to Bug spirits. They believe that they will have it available commercially in a short period of time. It is currently undergoing rigerous testing.
Evo has finally finished their latest line of symbiotes that will rival even their bioware line for versatility and functionality. Designed on their Mars base, they will re-revolutionize the industry. In preparation for the release worldwide, Evo has begun retooling several of their major factories for bioware component's causing shortage in that area. Evo planned it to assist in the marketing of their new line which will be and easier to find alternative to there bioware line. This will be short lived however as they have already begun expanding several production centers to make up for the lost productin in a few months time.
Shiwase has released new biotech that makes the owner unconscious and totally unresponsive, and alert corporate HQ, in the event they are possessed by a spirit. This biotech is a variant of the magically active FAB bacteria and requires a minimum level of essence in the host. It also possesses a special gland with radio capable functionality. It is believed to be bleeding edge tech.
Aztechnology has moved to consolidate their hold on the California Free State. They call the new territory Paradiso Dante. Their efforts in doing this thus far are fairly successful. However, they have also begun to harassas NAN lands between Atzlan and Paradiso Dante with a mass number of spirits that have begun killing a large number of individuals. NAN nations have moved to defend themselves, and have repelled a few of these teams, but since the agressors are random in their assaults, the defenders are having a hard time covering everything. The local populations are quite concerned and many have begun moving farther into the coast. They are also causing tremendous environmental damage since the summoned spirits are killing all living things. A lot of the summoned spirits are not happy about this since its very disbalancing to nature and the background count in the area has gone up in some areas. Aztechnology employees have been notably unaffected by these spirits, though Atzlan is not directly linked to this. Word on the Black Market is that some high level managers are selling charms to protect against the spirits, which has caused Aztechnology’s profits to go up in the region.
The Free California League has begun a gurilla campaign against Aztlan in their region, and they seem to be receiving assistance covertly from a number of different corporations and government. They’re causing massive headaches for the occupying forces. One of these forces is shown to be Saeder Krupp, who had begun a massive propaganda campaign against Atzlan and Aztechnology. The campaign succeeded against Atzlan, which wasn’t very hard given their campaign along the NAN coast, but it utterly backfired against Aztechnology. Aztechnology conducted a covert video showing known Saeder Krupp agents sneaking weapons to one of the more radical FCL cells which blew up a school bus full of Aztechnology employees. It was made even worse as investigations revealed an extremely elaborate trail of false corporate fronts to give SK plausible deniability. As a result SK market share has declined with Ares, Evo, Renraku and Aztechnology taking the loss. SK spin doctors say that this is merely a temporary shift in public opinion and will be rectified, ‘once the real truth comes out.’
This loss has been mitigated by an announcement by SK that they are releasing their own version of the Shiawase bioware, which they believe they can have to market in half the time for 2’rds of the cost. As a result, their shares rebounded somewhat, though public sentiment is still somewhat against them. Shiawase is considering taking SK to the Corporate Court over the issue.
The Feathered seprented SoƱador has arrived and is offering to mediate between the various factions amongst the Tir, Salish and Timshan, and all the parties are willing to take his negotiation. He has also stated that anyone involved in the fighting after a month will suffer his wrath. Several local Tsimshian cells have begun forming in occupied Salish land though, and they are causing major disruptions. Public sentiment has begun to turn against the current Salish government. They have taken up SoƱador’s offer and a tribal council has been called to deal with the matter.
A skillfully run public relations campaign has begun to stir up sentiment against Tir Taingire. Their efforts on the matrix have been quite successful so far, though the Matrix is a very shifty place. Their efforts at eradicating non humans in the UCAS and Quebec has met with little success. The CAS has ignored them for the most part but this harassment is complicating negotiatiosn between the UCAS and CAS regarding reconcilation of past differences. The Tir’Na’Og and Tir’ Taingaire’s Royal House have formally anounced an alliance via marriage between their royal houses. The marriage will take place in four months.
As a result of their refusal to go along with this campaign, the NAN and the UCAS have formally signed a free trade agreement. It is expected to go into effect in six months. The final details are still being negotiated by diplomats.
The great spirit in the Gobi has ceased its attacks on travelers because it wasn’t real. It was revealed to be a complete hoax created by the entertainment company Soritalk for an upcoming movie. Many people are extremely upset about this and it is believed that many Free Spirits are stalking their employees. The spirits have nevertheless held a conference and created something called the Spirit Accord. They are keeping the exact details amongst themselves, but word has it that they have hired a large number of lawyers in various parts of the world.
The dead rising in Poland have largely been dealt with in a combined effort by the Polish and Russian military. Many celebrate the first true cooperation between the nations in decades. Relations between the two are still extremely frosty.

The Diamonds exploding in South America have been traced to a group of radical dwarves known as the Sons of Dirt. The group was rounded up and locked up. Diamond prices around the world have since stabilized.
Massive auroras of energy have been spotted in Antartica. Many people believe that they are generating strange snow creatures that eat all passers by. What is known is that they seem to make magic surge whenever they are around. The creatures have already destroyed two bases and are believed to be working to destroy many more.
The toxic spirits from Monster Island have come to shore in China and wreaked massive chaos there, utterly destroying two coastal cities of more than a hundred thousand people, and are growing in power and strength. Another toxic spirit has been seen off the Korean Coast and has killed over 50,000 people in a single night before submerging hidden into the waves.
*Large creeping ticks have begun to infest Tasmania. These newly awakened creatures have an incredibly fast life cycle and have begun to wreak utter havok on the wild life.
*A large number of aligators have been spotted in the sewers of New York City. They have eaten more than a few inhabitants. The governing authority is denying that they exist.
*Argentinian troops have begun massing on the southern border of Amazonia, which has the bulk of its forces in the north. It is unknown if they have made some kind of a deal of alliance or are simply being opportunistic. They are moderately well equipped and moral is high.
*With the absence of SoƱador, chaos has errupted among some of the factions in the Yucatan with some of the local tribes attacking each other. Such division might not happen if Atzlan were not distracted, but at the moment they seem to feel it safe. The conflict is causing great ecological devastation.

A powerful ring of light has surrounded the Toxic Monster Island, stopping its darkness in the region and limiting the further spewing of toxic spirits.

The section of Iraq wherein the Ziguarat lies is near a former chemical weapons factory and was also used by the Caliphate several decades past before it broke apart. The current government is largely corporate owned and/or controlled. Satellite photos reveal that there are no living things within the astral background count and that the lifeless zone is slowly growing. There are several towns nearby with large shadow assets. The site also happens to sit upon one of the largest oil deposits in the region.
Research into three of the statues reveals details of three of them. The dragon is in fact an exact replica of Dunklezahn, not Ghost Walker. The gem symbol he has is the Gem of Memory which was left to Lofwyr in Dunklezahn’s will. Dragons are often very secretive of their own ways, but it is known that there are social mores amongst them, and the lore keeper (the holder of the gem) is a very important position. The elf is the legendary Karlarn the IV, a figure in ancient elven mythology believed to be a common ancestor of both royal lines. The symbol with the all seeing eye is that of the Masons, which supposedly had to do with the Temple of Solomon, but it has through the ages represented powerful lines of Kings, leaders and various powers. One of the symbols represents the Atlantean foundation. There was a huge disk that once revealed that there was an ancient human and elven empire, which the Atlatean foundation is interested in uncovering as much as possible.
Laughing at Crows has been off the grid for a number of years. However, it is believed that he may be somewhere in Alaska and living alone. Those who have gone to find him have either not succeeded…or not returned.

Blood of the Earth - Session 5 Synopsis + Notes

Session 5 Synopsis -
(Note: Session was short due to Insane Snow)

The group decided to follow the light path offered by the dagger. After some discussion, they rented a boat under the corp that Silver had established, and headed toward Float Town, an anarchist refuge 20 miles from the target site in the middle of the Bermuda triangle. Along the way, the group pinged a rigger by the name of Banjo to do some work for them to take them to the site. They were attacked by some pirates, who they initially evaded. However the pirates got aboard Banjo's squid like sub and attempted to attack the party that way. It was an utter blood bath in which the party easily triumphed, and got a nice squid shaped sub in the interum (Details to be posted in the News as to the stats on the vehicle). It was capable of 100 mph and had an atomic engine allowing it to operate almost indefinitely without fuel. The group went early and discovered a strange chamber with a mountain that had four doors. The group was unsure of which way to go, but entered the door towards the mountain itself. There was a visible wind and they remembered the questions that they had been asked about directions. Inside of this chamber, they found a huge chamber that was filled with seven statues; an elf with a symbol that looked a bit like the royal seal of Tir'naog and Tir tain'gair but not quite, a dragon that looked like Dunklezahn with the symbol of a jewel, a human with the symbol of the Atlantean society, a differently dressed human with the symbol on the US dollar, a statue with a bunch of wheels with no visible symbol, a formless blob with a circle of stones as a symbol, and a black pillar with a black void of some kind as a symbol.

After playing around for a bit, the group temporarily empowered the human with the Atlantean symbol, until a human with five heavy hitters came in and demanded that they change it to the symbol with the all seeing eye. The group said, 'Screw that' (essentially) and changed it so that it favored no particular statue instead making a white light go toward the heavens. They instinctively knew that it empowered their faction; such as they actually had a faction. There was a brief firefight between the intruder and someone behind them, but the group has no idea who that was. There was a bright light and they all found themselves back on the Submarine with the knowledge that the chamber was still there, and with the Dagger of Ararchne, they could still change it.

Of course, theoretically, so could someone else, which suddenly makes the thing incredibly powerful and valuable. World altering valuable and powerful.

In the third dream they find themselves on a tall mountain, and the wind is howling. Which way do they go to climb down?

Downtime Points (Updated)
------------------

Getting them: You automatically get three for free each month. Period.

You can also get them by doing the following:

A) Puppet Factions. Keeping track of ALL the factions in a game this hard is difficult.

I will allow you to puppet one country, one corporation and one miscleneous minor group like policlubs. Basically this can be detailed in terms of what they are planning that month or it can be as little as a paragraph. You can earn two DP's this way. One very detailed plan or three high level ones will earn two. A single paragraph can earn 1.

B) Flesh out NPCs. Up to 2. At least one must be one I can use in an encounter against the party. You can earn up to 2 this way.

C) Rumors. Plot seeds and rumors sent to me to make the game more interesting, and that I might use to speed things up. You can earn up to 3 this way.

D) Increase Darkness. I have will have a hidden timeline. Certain events will happen around the world including the ultimate destruction of the world as the 'darkness meter' increases. You can earn up to 2 this way.

E) Increase Regional Chaos. Every major region (North America, South America, Central America, East Europe, West Europe, North Africa, South Africa, Pacific Islands, China, South East Asia, Middle East, Other (Space/Antartica/Deep Sea Islands) has a chaos rating. As it increases, worse and worse things happen. You can earn up to three this way.

I am potentially open to suggestions of other ways to earn DP, but they should be along this vein.

Ways you can spend them.

Individually

1)Acquire Contact: Contacts are extremely useful because within their sphere of influence, they can achieve any of the other things that a DP can do for you at no cost to yourself. The downside of this, of course, is that if you use a contact, there is an increasing chance they will ask you to do something for them in return.

2)Upgrade Contact: You can increase either the loyalty or connection rating of an existing contact for each DP spent.

3)Research: Pretty flexible. You can spend a DP to research anything from a new spell, combat technique, item, technology etc. Vastly increased if you have the resources of your own lab or a university at your disposal. Each DP spent represents a month of your or someone else's time spent. You can thus accomplish several months of research at a much faster pace than normal.

4) Gather Information: You can gain a great deal of information on a wide range of topics. Naturally, if you have skills that are more suited for a particular topic, you will be more successful in this regard.

5) Craft Item: This involves making something, either commissioning it or having someone else do it, or making it yourself. This can be anything from your own journal to a play to a magic item. Unique items (besides magic items) will almost always have a beneficial result. Each DP spent represents a month of in character crafting time on your or someone else's part. You can thus accomplish several months of crafting at a much faster pace than normal.

6) Personal Mission: You can undertake your own micro quest. Establish a plan, and I will make rolls for you to determine the result. This can be quite flexible, but this also involves risk to your person; almost never death, but you could, for example, theoretically start the game with damage or loss of an item. Then again, the gains can potentially be quite exceptional as well. You can earn up to 20000 NY and 3 karma per mission MAX, and the more risky it is, the more wounds you start with at the beginning of the next session. You may only do 3 Personal Missions per session. If you all take part in a mission, the odds of success go up dramatically. I may also award information, 0 level contacts or other things depending on the role playing involved and the cleverness of the plan of the mission.

7) Acquire a Knowledge Skill. 1 point for each DP spent. You should never have to waste Karma on knowledge skills.

8) Misc: There are things you can try with DTP that have not yet been discovered.

Group

Everyone can contribute DP towards these.

1) Increase the stakes. For 5 DP's, everyone earns an additional 1 Karma per session. Then it goes to 10, 15, 20 etc etc. It increases the speed at which everyone earns Karma but also the toughness of the bad guys you face.

2) Vehicles. Each DP spent represents up to 10,000NY towards group modification, customization or acquisition of specific vehicles.

3) Bases and Resources. Each DP spent represents up to 10,000NY towards group modification, customization or acquisition of specific bases and group resources.

4) Group Edge Pool. For 5 DP spent, you get one group Edge pool which can be used to solve problems by majority vote at the table during the session. The cost of this goes up 5 for each one acquired 10, 15 etc).

5) Increase the group public rep. Also at a 5 DP increase cost for each spent. 5/10/15 etc.

6) Patron. You can establish a corporate, organizational, conspiracy or group patron. You spend DTP in two ways. The frame work cost is fibinaci - 1 DTP for 1, 2 DTP for level 2, 3 for 3, 5 for 5 etc. Each increase represents more that the patron is willing to do and the efficiency and TIES that the patron has. Shadowrun is all about this which is why this is a more efficient method of acquiring STUFF than using DTP on your own but the flip side is that you are tying the group to these outside factions. The second is spending DTP to actually get stuff. This will vary highly depending on what you want but the higher the 'Patron Level' the more return for DTP invested that you get.

7) Group Corp. This is somewhat new. So I'll list some specific costs.
National to Multinational (A): 7 DTP
A to AA: 15 DTP
AA to AAA: 50 DTP
Disassociation (Rating 1 through 10): 5 for 1, 10 for 2, etc.
Matrix Assets (Rating 1 through 10): 5 for 1, 10 for 2, etc.
Financial Assets (Rating 1 through 10): 5 for 1, 10 for 2, etc.
Shadow Assets (Rating 1 through 10): 5 for 1, 10 for 2, etc.
Magical Assets (Rating 1 through 10): 5 for 1, 10 for 2, etc.
Physical Security (Per installation) (Rating 1 through 10): 1 for 1.
Political Power (Per region) (1 through 10): 1 for 1.

Other special assets might include, Research and Development, Building and Craft Facilities etc.

The corp is HIGHLY visible and subject to attack by other corporations along a wide variety of fronts. The bigger you are, the bigger you can be hit. The group ownership of the corp can remaining largely hidden by the dagger as long as it remains only an A corp. After that, it depends on the Dissociation factor.

A: Max Rating 3
AA: Max Rating 6
AAA: Max Rating 10

The Dissociation Factor must be 1 higher than all the other ratings to retain the cloaking abilities of the dagger. Otherwise, the ownership of the group will become known and all that is associated with it. INDIVIDUAL GEAR bought from the corp (as compared to a Patron, Direct DTP or Nuyen) temporarily lowers the Dissociation factor and the shielding effect of the corp. GROUP GEAR depends on the mission specifics. A vehicle to get you to a mission probably won't. Things that you buy everyone ON the mission probably will.

Metaplot

1)Advocate Organization: All organizations are starting out with an effective 'matrix' in political strength of a certain strength. I will publish that in the first news post. I will track Corps, the 5-6 strongest nations, and other organizations I deem relevant for you to now about. For the first month you won't know what these faction ratings are.

2) Weaken Organization. The reverse of the first.

3) Lower the darkness rating .5. Thus it costs 2 DP's to lower it 1, wherein you can gain 1 DP by raising it one. This is currently defined but hidden.

4) Lower regional chaos. 1 for 1. I will not have the regional chaos score of an area visible.

5) Advance the Tech track. I will also be creating a hidden tech timeline with technological innovation occurring. This is currently undefined.

6) Advance the Magic track. Defined but hidden.

7) Advance the Reckoning track. There are a lot of scores to be settled and issues that need to be resolved. This will be a hidden track.

Bottom line: Send me your responses privately. You can discuss how to spend it amongst each other as much as you want, but when you actually decide how to spend it, I want "Official" somewhere in your subject line.

Blood of the Earth - News February 2073

Stuff happening in the world - Febuary 2073

The cyber psychosis plague has continued, causing the cybernetics restrictions in most developed nations to increase. Licenses have become even more selectively given, and there is now a simmering tension between several of the more powerful nation states and corporations, who dislike the restrictions on such licenses. For now it is merely being blamed on bureaucracy and increased time in background checks, but it is not known if this will cease on its own.

Tir Taingaire got some relief as a temporary truce was called between the two factions of the civil war amongst the Royal and Republic factions, though there are substantial rumors that the shadows in the area are white hot between the two with all courtesy being on the surface only. Neighboring NAN nations have withdrawn all troops from the conflict and are laying down substantial trenches and defenses in case the chaos spills over to their areas.

Atzlan pulled its troops from the Amazonian border, which grew much calmer. It then shifted these troops rapidly by rail in a major move to push an attack on the beleaguered California Free state. The California Free State was unable to put up any kind of a substantive resistance with Atzlan advancing and taking the southern third of the country before a desperate CFS turned to the UCAS. Apparently secret reintegration talks were under way which were fast tracked.

The UCAS and CFS formally signed a merger agreement, pending acceptance by the UCAS senate, formally reuniting the CFS with its former neighbor. UCAS has established a major naval presence off the coast the Panama Canal and are currently in talks with Atzlan. Very large air/sky spirits have been seen working in conjunction with UCAS military train maneuvers in Seattle. Similar large water spirits in the harbor have many convinced the UCAS has considerable underwater assets nearby as well. Atzlan has been threatened with immediate war if it does not halt its attacks.

Atzlan has ceased major movement but has not formerly called for a cease fire. Reactions from the other North American nations has been mixed, torn between great concern over the aggression of Aztlan and the danger of a fully reintegrated UCAS. Sources indicate that the UCAS is in negotiations with the NAN to allow heavy troop movements through their territory in exchange for favorable trade treaties while the NAN is offering substantial technological and economic incentives to keep them neutral in the conflict.

Public perception has begun to turn against Atzlan, with multiple entertainment companies portraying them in an increasingly dark light. Strangely this negative publicity has not affected the popularity of Aztechnology in the slightest. This shift in public opinion causes speculators to believe that most other NorthAM nations will eventually decide in favor of UCAS, despite their reservations. In fact, the only thing probably keeping the NAN and other NorthAM nations from forming an outright alliance against Atzlan are the formal announcement of talks (talks only at this stage) of reintegration between the CAS and UCAS as well. Such a merger would pose a considerable threat in the minds of the NAN and other nations, which have not forgotten the horrors of the internment camps at the beginning of the 21rst century by the former American Empire.

Meanwhile, Amazonia has NOT moved its troops from the border with Atzlan and it is suggested that there may be more major logistical movements underway to allow for a major offensive. Whether or not this is true is extremely difficult to confirm due to the secretive and impenetrable nature of the arcane country. Part of this posturing is believed to be the startling revelations now made by several independent micro journalists that the Vitas IV-like outbreak in Caracus was an Azlan test of a blood magic enhanced weapon, and one more provocation from Azlan to Amazonia. Azlan denies this but the proof that they are guilty is, in the words of one expert, ‘irrefutable.’

Renraku has been formerly acknowledged by the Corporate Court to have AAA status, with substantial backing from Amazonia and several other South American countries. The corporation has made remarkable, almost perfectly timed stock market gains and many believe that they have perfected some kind of powerful divination magic.

The VITAS IV plague was stopped in the nick of time, with a massive vaccination effort, led by Renraku in the area. Rumors abound of a powerful Prime Runner team that single handedly took down a Great Spirit Hive that was threatening the area. Several independent journalists have begun to look into the incident but reports from the area are that finding any clues is proving surprisingly difficult, beyond even the difficulties found in the terrain and the shadows in general. The only tangible clue that they have gathered thus far is a link between the runner group and Renraku, possibly attributable to their success of late.

The radioactive cloud in Micronesia has rained massive amount of atomic waste, causing an enormous amount of toxic water and island spirits to manifest. It is believed that no less than four giant spirits of Force 14 or larger have been created as a result and are hanging around the focus of the atomic blast. Distance readings indicate that the background count on the island is the single highest ever recorded, and that it may impossible for the magically active to go anywhere near the island without madness or death.

General hatred of ghouls was sufficient to cause a massive national militia to round up and mow down all of the ghouls causing problems in Australia. Metahuman rights activities sympathetic to ghouls are appalled and attempting to organize an international boycott. Their efforts have thus far been unsuccessful.

CAS investigators shut down a massive blood cult setting up shop in Birmingham Alabama. The effort is widely hailed as a perfect example of law enforcement, and one sheriff was quoted as saying, “We ain’t going to allow no Chicago down here.”

The Oriculcum Rush in Pakistan has resulted in full out warfare between tribal, corporate, criminal and individual factions. The entire region has devolved into what is probably the most militarized zone in the world, though rumor has it that it is extremely profitable for business.

*A powerful great spirit in the Gobi desert has begun sucking the life force from caravan travelers. There are some who believe that this is a free spirit that has found a way to draw karmic life force without voluntary compliance. Word is whispered in the shadows that there are a great many powerful free spirits that would like to know about how the Great Desert Spirit is doing this and a great many powerful magical anything else that is scared witless about this ability and willing to prevent others from learning it. It is believed by some scholars that this spirit was released when the Volcanos near the Three Gorges erupted.

*An unusually large number of the dead are coming to life in the areas around Poland. Many believe this is some kind of new hyper colony of Shedim. The creatures only surface briefly but when they do manifest in the physical world, they cause all kinds of havoc. Thus far they are only seen in a few outlying villages.

*Diamonds have begun exploding at random in South Africa. The cause of this is unknown but work in all forms of diamond minds has drawn to a halt. The effect has also hit several jewelry stores however, and even in a few rare cases wedding and engagement rings. Thus far the effect seems localized to South Africa but shares of diamond mines around the world have plummeted out of negative anticipation.

Metaphalis has just recently been announced by EVO to produce almost unlimited amounts of oxygen and nutrients for a surprisingly low cost. Economists estimate that it has made the cost of living in outer space essentially free from an environmental perspective, though of course there are still many other prohibitive factors. Evo has also developed a line of cheap, biodroid bodies that will allow AI's to interact with and pretend to be human with relatively low cost.

Analysis of some samples taken from the Pakistani site reveal that there is a new alloy found from the Oriculcum that seems to have powerful new metamagic properties. Exactly what they are is unknown at this time but it is believed to have something to do with spirits or Deep Astral planes.

Rumors

Shiwase is about to release new biotech that will make the owner
unconscious and totally unresponsive, and alert corporate HQ, in the
event they are possessed by a spirit.

Watcher spirits in Yucatan have begun randomly attacking anyone astrally
active nearby at the time when their service is ended. this has
included the person that originally summoned them.

UCAS has freed shadow runners in jail for offenses in return for their
assistance in California Free State.

Arthur Pendragon is gaining power in England and is soon to become King in a Coup de Etat.

A powerful ring of light has surrounded the toxic island trapping all of the spirits inside of it.

The two factions of the Elven Civil War in Tir Taingaire are close to reconciling their differences.

Tir’Na’Og and Tir’ Taingaire’s Royal House are discussing an alliance via marriage between their royal houses.

Saeder Krup is about to make an absolute killing based on a technology that was found by a group of runners near the CFS/Tir border.

Amazonia has discovered an extremely potent magical weapon which offers them protection against blood magic.

A powerful assassin is after the heir of the royal house of Tir’Na’Og.

A conglomeration of corporate interests is about to bring major reinforcements into Pakistan to turn the Oriculcum War there to their favor.

The owner of the Great Ghost Dance journal is Laughing at Crows, widely regarded to be the third ranking amongst the NAN members who completed several of the great rituals. It is primarily a journal that describes the horrific conditions and injustices that they received at the time, but it also contains extremely valuable and hither to now unknown insights into exactly what the meta magic process was that they used. Through a combination of ley lines, star signs and powerful meta spirits, they were able to achieve these extremely powerful magic effects. It also involved a powerful meta magic similar to blood magic but that involved voluntary sacrifice instead of involuntary sacrifice. Anyone reading it gains +1 Arcane Theory KS, +1 NAN History KS, +1 Meta Magic KS and ½ Xp cost toward their next rank in Arcana.

Digital Copy of the Journal is worth 50,000 base per modified by negotiations.

Journal worth 100,000 at base price per modified by negotiations.

Some investigation reveals that the Atlantean society has indeed discovered a large number of interesting artifacts in the area, though their investigations are over several regions and many believe Atlantis to be just as likely in the Eastern Mediterranean or Northern Atlantic. There are three nearby oil platforms, one of which has a small floating city by it within 20 miles of the primary site which can potentially be used for resupply. The first of the oil platforms is owned by Ares, another by BP and another by Exxon.
