[Seven Isles] Session 8 and 9

Session 8

The group made arrangements with a bunch of giants to take a ship they were using to try to set up a trade network of their own and were going to protect it.  The ship set out and they learned to help protect the ship.  They ran into an elemental along the way that attacked the ship.  They killed it.  Then they ran into a mirror storm and outran it.  Then they ran into a giant mirror elemental that they tried to convince that they were friends with.  It read their minds and accepted that they were not hostile but did consider the giants hostile and killed them all but spared the troupe and took them to Pharos with a promise that they would free two mirror elementals trapped in the dimension of mirrors.

Session 9

The group spent 3 days burying a LOT of giants.  They checked out a weird anvil that fell out of nowhere and killed some guy who was dressed in a suit and took some tarot cards from him.  They spent 5 days building carts and taking the trade goods from the giant ship and had Smalldick pull it.  The group was popular in the small town out of nowhere that hadnt seen a troupe in years and performed.  They got some really nice horses to give boomfist a rest.  Lex stole a cloak of the archnida from a Culturally appropriated (Pharos) store full of schlock.  The group went to a rural city and did some investigations but didn't find anything they wanted to follow up on except a lead to find Sharina Stargazer.  They bought a psychotic but friendly flying carpet from a used vehicle sales man who had an illict business on the side.  They flew to a small town at the edge of the Hub and near the Sea of Firebugs.  They met Sharina who agreed to help Morri find her family if the group would perform in the city of Amoeba to distract the warlord who ran the city.  The group agreed and went on a carvan ot the city.

[Seven Islands] News and Journals - Session 3

Summary of Game: Our heroes accepted a mission from Klandstone University to find out what had happened to 3 previous expeditions to the island of Oracle.  After doing so, they determined to go a different way than everyone else and traveled by boat to a small town on the coast.  They came to a large mesa on a disused path behind where they found six survivors of the previous parties mind controlled by a mysterious ring matter who could mind control people just by looking at them.

Unlike previously, the group was able to sneak towards them and ambush them all doing a huge amount of damage to the ring master before the group got overwhelmed or any of them got mind controlled.  They found a lot of loot in a very large tent and the freed adventurer's were also grateful for no longer being mind controlled.  The group continued investigating the ruins.

In the ruins, they found
-A large meadhall which from midnight to 1am is filled with ancient warriors who drink mead and tell tall tales (Unexplored)
-A well that contains a large tentacled...thing (wisely avoided)
-A boxing ring which summons an enchanted boxer who offers to fight you for a friendly wager (unexplored)
-A boarded up shop that throws knives at anyone who tries to enter (unexplored)
-A giant snow globe which seems to have someone frozen inside (unexplored)
-A stairway that clearly goes somewhere unseen up into the air (unexplored)
-A hall of mirrors which distort and obfuscate one's image (unexplored)
-A Merry Go Round which has riding animals of all kinds (unexplored)
-An arch of stone that is strangely silent (Dreamed of but otherwise unemployed)
-A large tent filled with rooms (explored)
-A small four rowed hedge with a nice trimmed edge and shrubbery in the middle (quite nice) (unexplored)

News
-------------

The Ingmelian Military Base is reaping the benefits of empowering the Offworld Refugees, or as they have started calling themselves the Council of Outworlders, along with the Canton militia has recovered the stolen military equipment on the Island of Oracle with a combination of science and psionics.  The governor overcame Inglemian prejudice against the Mental Arts allowing a combination of mental signals and trigonometry to launch an expedition to recover the equipment from a mysterious Ringmaster who had been controlling several expedition members.  Said individuals had recently been rescued by the Troupe With No Name, popular performers from Landsea.  Fortification of Krashnal began again in haste with two pirate ships trying out new long guns, bombarding the island from a far wreaking havok for a full 24 hour period before moving on to do the same thing to Ashland.

Asland reports a large velvet cloud erupting from the volcano but the local Stone Druids report that it is not magma or steam of any kind; a few say it is a sign of change from the Great Wyrm in its depths but few know what to call it.

Oracle has begun to be a source of tension as the northern settlements have bad a lot of refugees from Ashland, Krashnal and Nimgee trying to flee the Ashlander pirates and many disagree that they should be taking on more refuees at all.  Tensions between the two groups is growing high, and the Island is starting to talk of organizing finally, both for defense and political representation on the Island Council.

Xorital is fortifying at a mad rate and the Prince is spending seemingly unlimited funds to encourage more and more people to join him in reforming the monarchy and rumor has it he is quietly considering declaring himself king.  He has formed a full court and is appointing many royal positions.  Rumor has it that many supporters in the city guard.  The Mayor, outclassed and outspent is drummingup support from the rest of the Islands by starting an independence movement for the Islands, with support from most of the islands and funds being sent to the Mayor to try and turn the Prince's tide.  Needless to say, rumor has it Inglemia and Kelp are less than pleased.  The Axis of Storms, the Giants and the Dragonlands are said to be paying attention.  Ambassadors and diplomats may or may not be sent.

The Satrapy of Iodine is not actually in rebellion, but it is in turmoil.  Recently, the Satrap has died and several of his heirs killed.  The local regent Abysmali Ord Kane has sworn to protect the Satrap in waiting with his life.  The Kelpian Empire is dubious about this and sending an Advisor to watch the Regent very closely.  Whether it is the Satrapy or the Island miraculously paying off its debt and therefore nominally spinning out of Kelp's sphere of influence is unknown.

Landsea seems an island of calm in a sea of chaos as the herbal harvest comes due next month and every harvest on the island is scrambling to match it.

The Tao of Nimgee have fallen and are being sold into slavery by the Blacklander Pirates.

Orimo-The Grand Klep, Cleric of Smells is celebrating his 80th birthday and is hiring performers to celebrate the occasion.

Rumors

The Blacklander Pirates have a powerful new weapon that can affect an entire town

One of the missing seven gods has been seen walking around Orimo.

The Troupe with No Name Stole the Military Equipment Found on Oracle not the Ringmaster and they are lead by an insidious Spider Worshiper

The rift between Inglemia and Kelp is getting worse and Inglemia or Kelp is near ending their alliance formally.

A new Psionic School is being founded in Undertown near Krashnal

[Seven Isles] News and Journals Session 2

Headlines

Major robbery in Krashnal!  While the island is desperately trying to fortify itself with the expansion of rapid roads between major parts of the island and major ramparts and training of the infantry, the supplies that the island counted on to help them fortify against the pirates have been decimated.  Many believe that the pirates have slipped agents on to the island vastly increasing paranoia.  Some in the Ingleimaian forces nearly accused the outlander militia for this, but the outlanders passed several lie detector (magical) tests professing their innocence and mutual desire to capture the culprit.  A considerable reward has been offered for the recovery of the goods or evidence leading to the capture of the culprit.

Xorital's two factions (the prince and the mayor) have outwardly allied and four of the islands seats have agreed to unify against the pirates.  The worshippers of the fly god, Nimgee and Krashnal did not vote.  The fly worshippers are pacifists, Nimgee is controled and actually represented by the pirates and Krashnal has been too busy preparing and fortifying to send anyone to represent them.  Xorital is also now worried about the theft on Krashnal, but the already high tensions between the factions has led to them accusing the other of secretly working with the pirates and quietly both are offering rich rewards for proof that the other is working for the pirates.

Meanwhile rumors that the Abysmali appearing in vast numbers in Undertown have proven to be true, fleeing the supposed civil war of Kelp though despite the rumors of this there is no indication that this is going on.  There are whisperings (actual not rumors) of hostility between Kelp and certain Inglemian factions about their friendliness towards non humans as well as other matters such as the empowering of the Militia on the islands and not rescinding the (to inglemia) irrevocable canton charter.  Tensions are brewing.

And in other news

Orimo-The Grand Klep, Cleric of Smells is celebrating his 80th birthday and is hiring performers to celebrate the occasion.

The Tao people of Nimgee are starving and about to collapse due to the complete naval and land blockade.

Landsea is commissioning fortifications of their port town but is much slower to get around to it than the other areas and attempting to organize but not being very good at it.

Ashland is repairing ships and outfitting their fishing fleet for war to  help the Island Council.  Thehy are recruting marines.

Oracle is also fortifying their town and reports several missing persons.  Officially, the representatives from Klandsone university are not looking for a third expedition to go after the second that went missing looking for the first, having been drafted into help defend the island, but quietly they offer the same reward they originally did though have it on good assurance from a letter that someone sent them that another expedition will be coming any day now...

Rumors

The Satrapy of Iodine (The local Satrapy) thought there was a rebellion and guessed wrong and so the empire is coming to crush them.

From the journal of Morrigana Alair:

We had an interesting expedition this week. Accompanied by a small caravan of twenty people and one of the local druids we set out to try and locate the encampment of the automatons that we had been told had captured the mage who had created the life giving elixir. I’m sure certain members of the group probably hoped that we’d be able to rescue him to question him, or because of their feelings about the preciousness of life in /any/ apparent form, but I was glad to receive the proof of his death (as far as we know). There is a natural order to just about every world, and I think he was upsetting it. Upset the balance and terrible things can happen. I’ve seen that before… I need to work harder to right what was wronged.

I appreciate that my companions work well together, though I admit I don’t know how to react to some of them. And right now one in particular has my eye. I hate to admit that I don’t trust them as much as the others, not that I fully trust anyone, but when you catch the kid with their hand in the cookie jar… regardless, I don’t think they’d actively try to hurt anyone, but if l have learned anything it’s that complete trust is as much a lie as complete safety. Back to the point though, we worked well together out there in the forest and thankfully Callie was able to deescalate the situation when the automatons heard her singing to Boomfist. Also, despite what I wrote before, I’m glad that Alexander didn’t try to pull a fast one again and destroyed the vial.

I think we’re off to Oracle next, but before we do I need to get back on the trail. I know my family is somewhere out there. What’s more, I know those same bastards are also still out there. Hunting other family’s down and capturing them. *A few ink drops mark the page here followed by a quickly scribbled aside* She sent Fawkes over and he’s watching me. Creepy. *the normal writing returns* Anyways, it’s time to be off. Maybe a few stops in some of the seedier areas might turn up some information on who’s hunting or using slave labor. I just have to keep moving.

[Seven Isles] News and Journals

News

The pirates raided Ashport, the largest city on Ashlands and demanded that Inglemia do something about the pirates.  Former Governor Nigmal Cervantes did just that and personally boarded the IRS The Senate is In Session and the IRS In the Navy Now to attack the Blacklander Pirates at their base at Nimgee.  Even though Blue Water ships instead of Sky ships, the Inglemian Navy is vastly more powerful than most with their lightning cannons.

Except when they are not.

The Blacklander pirates were covered in a metal mesh as were the port gunforts that rendered the lightning cannons useless.  Further, their rate of fire has been hidden until now but the Canons fired at an ASTONISHING rate of speed utterly destroying the dreadnought the Senate Is In Session despite the Mending runes along with all her crew.  The Frigate In The Navy Now barely made it back to base but is severely damaged.

Governor Cervantes has been killed and communications from Inglemia indicate that reinforcements will be months in coming.  In the interests of organizing a resistance and stopping the pirates, Acting Governor, Commander Orale Orbshaw sought to commission a militia from the Seven Isles.   It was pointed out by the Outlander Refugees of Krashmal that under Inglemian law a militia requires a Canton; so using her emergency powers, Acting Governor Orbshaw declared Krashmal an Inglemian Military Canton of Water; and empowered the Outworld Refugees to commission a militia and defend the base there, which they are doing with great alacrity.

Rumor has it Kelp, an Inglemian ally for centuries, is not pleased with this news at all since Inglemia is a caretaker government while the Prince of Xorital is the actual government in centuries of debt to Kelp....

Speaking of which .....

On Xorital news of the news of this destruction was both poorly received and well received.  The Mayor of Xorital, long the most powerful political force on the Island Council has called an emergency meeting and worked to also fortify Xorital from the pirates, calling into question Inglema's duty to defend the islands.  Rumors swirl that Ashland is committed to independence.

The Prince, from sources unknown, paid his debt to the local Kelpian satrap with vast funds from unknown sources; nominally ending Inglemia's or Kelp's claims to the seven islands and is claiming rightful rule over the islands but with what army?  There is great tension between the City Watch and the Prince's guards, largely thought to be ceremonial but people are suddenly realizing how numerous they are.

Meanwhile....

Orimo-The Grand Klep, Cleric of Smells is celebrating his 80th birthday and is hiring performers to celebrate the occasion.

Klandstone University is looking to mount a second expedition from Krashnal to Oracle to find out what happened to the first expidition...

The Tao People of Nimgee are under siege from many of the Pirates since they rose up in revolt at Governor Cervante's request.  They are asking for reinforcements who can sneak through the pirate lines and help them defend their home.

Landsea is seeking an expedition to examine the camp of the Clockwork warriors to search the abandoned place for clues about who they were and why they were there.

Rumors

Abysmali in great numbers have been moving into Undertown (the underwater neighboorhood of Xorital)

A great challenge is occuring in Kelp for the Kelpian Throne

The Axis of Storms is attempting to consolidate their alliance with a marriage between the Blacklands and the Shard

Lex's Journal

Missing people of Landsea…
*sigh* This is… interesting… and possibly difficult situation. People are going missing and we have a personal interest in this island as one of the Troupe’s members is from there… Morri. She is a good person, talented as well.
I offered us an idea that would get us some money while we go to the Island, as being some guards for a merchant ship… it doesn’t seem to have gone over too well with most people in the Troupe.
We found a ship going sooner than the free ones, as we believed that this would be more important to get there sooner, most of us paid for it.

The Island of Landsea.
We arrived and spoke to an Elder of the island about the missing people, and they offered us many things, should we be able to find, rescue and deal with the problem… I think we will choose the option of a small percentage of what the items make, this has potential for a lot of money if we can poke the interests of the island and possible bring more people to it, create a tourist attraction of some kind perhaps? We shall see…

The Missing People and the Village of Fourth
The Town itself was, or so we thought, empty… myself and Calli snuck towards the village, in the quiet, we watched for a moment… the woman is much quieter than I thought she would be. The place just felt… wrong, and I couldnt really place it well.
Eventually I through a ball bearing into the middle of the town, and a sound, like metallic buzzing began… I threw on closer to watch, and it still went away. Then, of course I was an idiot, and threw a bottle of Alchemist Fire, where Calli and I could see, and a swarm of metallic beetles put it out, fairly quickly…
Interesting note, we found out they are Psionic… how they came to creation, is interesting. Long story short, a Wizard somehow came to the island with the idea of making some kind of potion of animation… I still have their notes on how to create the potion, which the Troupe does not know I have… I also got caught stealing some of the material we had found… threw one of the viles I had in the fire… I think I should throw the other into a fire… but I feel it could be very useful… but still...
NOTE: Clockwork Machinations LOATH this potion and its creation…. And what it does. It is an abomination to them and will kill those seeking to create the powdered version.

I think I am going to talk to Morri… and confess that I kept one other, but I need to hide the notes of the potion before I confront her… or the rest of the group.

Metallic Beetles…
Holy shit… holy mother of mary shit balls… I cannot believe it. HOLY CREAP ON A CREATION!....
These are amazing, we helped them, get out of the village, for getting the villagers back of course. But they are Psionic, and have a mass of intelligence, and we befriended them. We tried to give them a few good tips and suggestions, but their intelligence is that of a child or teen at most. It is fassinating, they are fascinating, and they have already chosen a name to… a bit ominous, but they call themselves Legion, for they are many

The First House - Characters and Intro

This is a two player email game I am running for family.  Continuity with the books will not be exact.

It is the Year of Our Lord 843, and the four greatest wizards of the age have come together to found a school called Hogwarts.  Students of many ages were invited from many nations though most came from the British Isles.  The school itself was still being built, but the opportunity, indeed the invitation itself was a great honor.  The world is much different than it would be in the 20th century, including the lack of the international confederation of wizards.  While magic is rare in the life of a Muggle, it is still something they can see every day.  Forests are lush and powerful and the magical forests and creatures of the earth are still on maps that anyone can find.  Vast and primeval forests remain that don't need to be hidden from muggles and their authorities only have vague and abstract threats to wizards who pretty much ignore them.

Name: Eleanor
House: Ravenclaw
Age: 11
Sex: Female
Physical Description: Average height, long red hair, green eyes

Personality: Muggle born and a little cautious about the non-Magical world because Muggles see her as different due to her red hair and green eyes, also glad to be away from her family; not especially athletic; likes to help others and is sensitive to others

Aptitudes: Natural witch; good at Charms and Potions; thinks outside the box

Wand: Unicorn hair core, Alder wood
Familiar: (of course) a cat
Patronus (Even though there is no such thing yet): Lion
Her greatest fear is being outed to the Muggle world
Her greatest desire is to become the best witch in the world

History: Eleanor was very surprised to get her letter to Hogwarts, she and her family had thought she was possessed by the devil. Being Muggle born, she has endured bullying from her family because they had to flee their town when her magical abilities were discovered. Her most stressful event caused the family to flee the village: her bullies were the sons of the local lord and she performed a disfigurement jinx on them both. The boys told their father but before they could arrest her and the family, the family fled.

Name: Mirabelle LePoridae
House: Ravenclaw
Age: 11
Sex: Female
Physical Description: Slightly small and thin for her age. Black hair in a "bowl cut".

Personality: She is generally very quiet except for academic discussions. She prefers the company of animals to that of muggles, witches or wizards, mostly because animals don't make fher feel awkward

Aptitudes: She has a natural and a magical affinity for animals of all kinds. She has a good aptitude for school and remembers things after hearing or reading them only once, though she still takes copious notes. She is an excellent broom flyer.

Wand: Phoenix feather core, Chestnut wood

Familiar: Turtle
Patronus: A White Ferret
Greatest Fear: My mother finding my Mom.
Greatest Desire: My mother having the power to finally stand up to and defeat my father.
When I grow up: I want to be whatever the Wizarding world equivalent of a veterinarian is. :)

History: Mirabelle's mother was a witch and as she was growing up her mother told her many wonderful stories about growing up with her wizard and witch grandparents, so Mirabelle was raised to know what she was and to respect magic. Her father was a muggle who was first fascinated by her mother's for her power and intelligent, but eventually grew to resent it and became violent with both of them so her mother took Mirabelle and they hid from her father. Before leaving, her beloved turtle, Shay, vanished and her heart aches to know what became of her. Mirabelle was both excited to receive her Hogwarts letter and worried about leaving her mother alone, especially as they had no idea where her father was and what he might do if he found either of them.

[United] The Monocain Conspiracy Part 1

Here

The Monocain Conspiracy Part 1
Date of Scene: 09 January 2018
Location: Unknown
Synopsis: Summary needed
Cast of Characters: Frankenstein, Lara Croft

Frankenstein has posed:
Frankenstein is walking with Lara in the warehouse district in up river NYC. This is not the gentrified city or the ruined portion after the incident but genuine slum that are factories and a few crazy start ups just off the river. There have been rumors of invisible animals. A police officer was mauled but as it went into the shared databases something was flagged by WAND which was flagged by Frankenstein. It was his first case in this form with shield, and he had been rather silent on it though grateful Lara had listened to him as they did. They were nearly to the place the mauling had taken place.

Lara Croft has posed:
Lara had happily decided to accompany Frank on this mission, she knew he was eager to get out there and help out. She'd brought a few SHIELD-gadgets with them too and she was already holding one in her hand and taking scans with it, a cell-phone-like device that would search for heat-signatures in the surrounding area, and since it was so cold out... those kinds of things would pop even more.

"If this claims are true, this could be a seriously unsettling discovery." Lara told the much larger man to her side. "Invisibility on anything is bad, let alone animals wishing to 'maul' others." The young Brit said idly while scanning.

Frankenstein has posed:
Frankenstein says, "Ever read any HG Well?" He is watching, listening, smelling, his arms making wide ranging circles. But it is the floor he pays the most attention too and points to a track in the mud."

Lara Croft has posed:
Lara cracked a small smile at this question while her brown eyes remained on the scanning device she was moving around, searching at the landscape with its Augmented Reality-type display on the screen.

"I've never been much for science fiction." Lara replied to the question, voice soft. "I was always more into historical novelists." She glanced at him and cracked a grin. "I'm boring. I know, you don't have to say it." She then looked to the tracks in the mud and tried to figure out what type of vehicle those would belong to.

Frankenstein has posed:
Frankenstein nods. He takes out an old school lantern, bullseye. He lights it. She has seen him use modern devices including a flashlight. The device shows fresh thermal tracks. "Monocain. Banned in secret treaties around the world. Every thirty years or so some idiot begins expirmenting with it. The proverbial invisible man. A drug that gives invisibility and a cost everyone ignores." As he swings the lantern smoke comes from it revelaing a pair of beady red floating eyes as the display lights up with a gigantic rat. There is scurry in the distance. A lot of scurrying.

Lara Croft has posed:
Lara gently nodded her words to what the other said. "The search for power will drive many people to do very strange, and terrible, things. Even to themselves, let alone to others around them." She commented before she swept her scanner off of the tracks and up and around to where the eyes were now showcasing themselves.

"There!" Lara announced, but she seemed to get the idea that Frank already knew.

"We need to capture it, find out whats in its system giving it that ability... Easier said than done though." Lara's ears picked up on the scurrying though. "That... doesn't sound like 'one' rodent."

Frankenstein has posed:
Frankenstein says, "One of me," since by now she would know he was many monsters, not one,"met the original Invisible Man. You could see shards of the original inside the madness but totally immoral and ammoral. Megalomaniac. It simply isn't worth the price." He took the steam gun off his back and aimed at the rat. He slowly pulled the trigger and splattered it. "You don't want it.. " the noise in the warehouse grew louder and louder "alive. You really don't. Someone in some department will get an idea to make more invisible rats or soldiers. We can test its dead tissue."

The rats come closer amd now Lara can see dozens, maybe hundreds closing in, their bodies lighting the augmented reality up like fire."

Lara Croft has posed:
Lara watched the large man splatter the invisible rat and she winced at it... but she had to agree with his logic overall on the 'why'. "I suppose so." She muttered, feeling poorly for the creature anyway though as it likely didn't want to be invisible at all.

"Sorry if I insulted you too." She wasn't sure if she had, but she had to apologize just incase. "I met an invisible person once, but they were using magical means to achieve it... I thwarted them after they stopped to drink water, I could 'see' the water inside their stomach. It was quite odd."

Lara's scanner came around and she saw the horde of rats. "Oh god." She said to him. "Frank. They're--they're everywhere here!"

Frankenstein has posed:
Frankenstein says, "in the fifties the guys name was General Striker of all things. The gentleman it turned out was neither a general nor named striker nor a gentleman. The story is long and pointless," he sheathed the steam gun and took out a holy sword, swatting and cleaving rats as he saw the blood in theie eyes from the lantern amd their wisps in the smoke. "He ended up raving mad and in an asylum for the rest of his life. Half invisible. That half being the outside. Someone has been testing it. A lot of it. More than I have ever seen used."

The rats are held at bay by the sword but only barely. "Magic has its own problems but its cleaner than monocain. I would not use it on a nazi."

Lara Croft has posed:
Lara reached for her sidearm out of the inside of her black leather jacket. She pulled the handgun out but didn't readily aim it or prepare to use it quite yet... Frank was doing a remarkably adept job with that sword and... if she could get away with not discharging a firearm in this part of the city, then she'd be pleased... but if she/he got overwhelmed she knew she might have to.

"Insane asylums from our past, generally did very little to try to help 'insane' people recover. Essentially, all they did was take a troubled person and make them far far worse!"

Lara kept the scanner going, because it was also recording all of this in many different formats both in heat-signature and non.

"Where are all these poor, filthy, little things coming from?"

Frankenstein has posed:
Frankenstein nods, "Good damn point." He slashed at a few but took a large slab of concrete with a rebar handle and made a massive slimy inprovised shield as the rats bounced off. "Let's find out." He moved farther into the warehouse, shining the lantern about. Lara could see them slithering all around and above them, a few hissing.

Lara Croft has posed:
Lara was quick to knock over a large stack of wooden rates that fell down across part of the floor, crushing a whole stream of the rats while others just jumped over the wrecked boxes.

The young British agent traced after Frank though, still holding her phone up and panting softly from the exercise and the generally madness around them.

"This place certainly doesn't scream 'high tech lab'!" Lara said back to her partner on this mission.

Frankenstein has posed:
Frankenstein says, "The rumors about you are true Lara. You hold yourself well. Shield still picks good people. And it doesn't scream hi tech but this kind of science is old. It isn't Mr Stark." He shined the light on a trap door on the floor, open with rats climbing up the ladder."

Lara Croft has posed:
"Thank you!" Lara said back at Frankenstein with a brief and momentary smile. A compliment was always a nice thing to receive, but in their current situation there was little time to mull it over...

She rushed past Frank as he exposed the trap door and she pushed down another stack of boxes that crashed to the ground and their contents of old uniforms spilled out in lumps of fabric.

"That looks... ominous." She told him, looking back to the trap door.

Frankenstein has posed:
Frankenstein is also impressed with the agility. He is not. At all. "Anything involving monocain is ominous. We need to contain this." As she looked down the night vision showed a shadowed nightmare of autopsy and wicker cages.

Lara Croft has posed:
Lara looked to Frank when he said this and then she turned a LED light on that was at the end of her handgun and aimed it at the trap door.

"This is beyond the two of us, Frank." She told him. "We've discovered something much larger here. We have to place a call for a containment team to come in and secure this area. If whatever is down there is infecting rats, that likely means that its... no longer in whatever containers it was previously stored in. Which means the two of us might suddenly become a lot harder to find if we go down there."

Lara looked at the scanner, she could see glimpses of the area below and it wasn't pleasing or comforting.

Frankenstein has posed:
Frankenstein says, "It needs to be burned. All of it. Can you compartment ize this so that they don't take but a few samples, no living ones? Can we do a ..." he thinks "air strike?""

Lara Croft has posed:
Lara huffed out a soft laugh of disbelief at the man's words and suggestion. "We can't do an... air strike... This has to be a controlled burn if we're do such a thing at all." She'd tell him back. "I can call it in and we'll have someone here in moments... We should head back outside and get away from their nesting place, that is probably what is setting them all off like this."

Frankenstein has posed:
Frankenstein nodded. His shoulders slumped. This was going to get out. But it wasn't Victors work. He wasn't going to push a boulder up a hill. "I understand. Seriously. Tell them its infected. Tell them that to look at the things in here will drive them mad if they see it. But if they know about them the tempation....monocain is not that had to get. Not really.

Lara Croft has posed:
Lara would listen to Frank's words as she'd push her way past some of the debris they'd caused, stepping over what she assumed were dead rats and then she shoved at a doorway, locked though. Lara's handgun came up and she blasted the padlock off of the chain then yanked the old rusty chain loose.

"They won't let it get out." She assured him as she shoved the door open to get back outside. "Come on. We can get this whole place burned down to ash, neatly."

Frankenstein has posed:
Frankenstein nods. It would have to do. It would have to. He killed a few more that got in their way, the shadows shimmering over the shining walls. "Damn whoever this is.

Lara Croft has posed:
Lara made her way back outside and turned back toward therir vehicle that they'd come in. She already had her phone out and was dialing in the call for an emergency cleanup team. She put her gun back into her jacket holster and looked back to him. "Damn them indeed." She muttered.

Once the call had been place, she looked back to him. "They're on their way, Frank. They'll be here in ten."

[United] An Unexpect Visitor

Here

 An unexpected visitor
Date of Scene: 05 January 2018
Location: Unknown
Synopsis: Summary needed
Cast of Characters: Frankenstein, Shadowlite

Frankenstein has posed:
Frankenstein sits in a shield safehouse, watching Young Frankenstein, laughing but also horrified since he remembers it first hand and can't explain how. It's surreal and he takes notes and eats popcorn as he does.

The facility is a safe house in up state New York near a train. It's some place he can be at home without screams but still 'away' from work and some place he is allowed to rest until he finds a place of his own. It's semi high tech security, with a small arsenal but mainly just a secure facility with a small lab and arsenal just in case. The room he is in now is basically a lounge with a few chairs and tables near an open kitchen.

Shadowlite has posed:
There's probably some sort of alarm in the place, and it goes off in short order when Shadowlite hops out of a portal and into the armory. The bodysuit and trenchcoat wearing mutant doesn't seem all that fazed about it, really, his sub-machine gun sitting on his shoulder while he browses through the toys inside, his augmented reality goggles identifying each asset in turn. "Belated christmas for me, woo. I figured the absurd power draw for this place made it a lair of some kind."

Frankenstein has posed:
Frankenstein blinks as one of 20 different alarms go off. He has no idea which kind it is but grabs his steam cannon and begins to look around. He stands and begins to look for something to point at when he hears a voice down the hall. "Who the hell goes?" He is midway between the human and monstros side of his spectrum and he sounds quite hoarse.

Shadowlite has posed:
Folding the sub-machine gun back into his trenchcoat, Shadowlite goes to find himself a nice hidey hole... before he concentrates, and suddenly a radial 40 meters around himself plunges into pitch blackness. There, in said hideyhole, he waits to see who comes along.

Frankenstein has posed:
Frankenstein looks around, not liking what he sees. Which is nothing. He knows someone is there though so he carefully moves forward, putting the gun and the flashlight back and forth. No light appears. Not good. "Hello?" He doesn't think the alarm is broken. He's just too seasoned.

Shadowlite has posed:
Oh good, someone who can't see in darkness. That makes this a lot easier. "Don't mind me, I'm just taking a look around." The voice is scrambled, and irreverent. "You've got yourself a nice hidey hole here. This yours, or are you with someone?" Shadowlite remains in his hideyhole, waiting for... with that voice, whatever... it is to step out into the open for him.

Frankenstein has posed:
Frankenstein tries to think of the list of folks who can do darkness. It's a short list and he has a database but the voice doesn't match the ones he knows. "You're in a SHIELD facility." That should throw most for a loop. But darkness is something he is comfortable in, even if he can't see. He is now quite in the open but not able to see Shadowlite.

Shadowlite has posed:
"Oh, SHIELD? Neat." Does one doesn't seem all that scared. "No wonder my goggles can't figure out half this shit." Shadowlite continues, the voice scrambler adjusted audibly, before he tosses a piece of loose metal over to the other side of the room, testing Frankensteins reaction time and detection methods.

Frankenstein has posed:
Frankenstein wonders at the word Goggles but that narrows things down a bit. Frankenstein almost has him identified but then is distracted by the noise and points the cannon at it. He's pretty fast for someone so large but not blinding. "Shadowlite?" Its a good guess at least

Shadowlite has posed:
"Never heard of him." The lie comes out smoothly. He's definitely used to that. "And you're probably not gonna let me take a look around, are you?" Shadowlite inquires.

Frankenstein has posed:
Frankenstein says, "You're on the index dude." He was sure now. "And I can start shooting the place up randomly but no one wants that. Why not let the lights back on and we can talk. There something particular you are looking for?"

Shadowlite has posed:
"You could shoot up the place randomly." Shadowlite concedes, "That won't be very effective, though." With the threat given, Shadowlite concentrates once more, and silently a misty blackness forms around his body, clinging to the bodysuit as it solidifies from head to toe, providing him with a pseudo titanium shell. "You have fun, now." With that, Frankenstein can hear an electrical crackling from... somewhere, seemingly in front of him, as Shadowlite begins to open an aperture into the Darkforce dimension.

Frankenstein has posed:
Frankenstein nods and is glad he can see...something at least. Frankenstein considers his options. The guy didn't visibly take anything. He'll probably have to report this but he's hardly concerned about arresting random people. Still. "Don't come back unless you knock on the door." It isn't an empty threat but he isn't being thugish either.

Shadowlite has posed:
The aperture is a bit random, seeing as Shadowlite only has a vague idea of the size of the place from scouting... but his portals wouldn't eject him into walls. Usually. He drops off on the other end of the facility, trying to find the utilities infrastructure to turn off the lights and smash the controls. Instead, he trips another alarm.

He looks up as it goes off, and sighs resignedly, "SHIELD sure are a bunch of unbelievable killjoys." He mutters under his breath, before he focuses, and his right hand outstretches, a misty black flow streams out of his arm and forms to close off the main doorway in with a sheet of titanium strength Darkforce. "I had to find the SHIELD safehouse that was occupied." He gripes.

Frankenstein has posed:
Frankenstein grunts as the alarm keeps going. He tries to remember where the security room is so he can check the cameras, and finds it locked, trying to remember the damn code. For now, he just listens, hoping he can hear something to locate where he is.

Shadowlite has posed:
With no attempt to break into the room, Shadowlite instead once again opens an aperture. SHIELD safehouse marked, time to let things cool down and see if he can hack into it from outside. Alarms are not fun to deal with. Once he steps through, Shadowlite disappears, and so does the elarm.
